I don't think it's "pity yourself day" as much as it is "you are now incredibly aware of the fact you have no significant other right now day".

It may not bother me, but I can see why it would bother others.

And instead of day it's more like two weeks leading up to that day what with all the stuff on tv and in stores.

I'm also not a fan of forced relationship-based obligations. If you're going to do something nice for someone then you should do it because you want to, not because you're "supposed to."

Slightly related: having kids. I expect I will want some someday, but not until I've achieved everything that I want to achieve in life, so that when the kids roll around I can give them the attention they need instead of sticking them in a crib and expecting them to not try and climb out.

I still think they're going to get saddled with pony OC names though.

Yup. My mom had non-invasive heart surgery back in the Fall, but she's doing well now. Based on my family history it's not looking especially good for my heart or pancreas when I get older, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there :P.

Glad to hear she's doing well. Hopefully the meditation will help with those issues, some studies I've read say that it helps a lot with preventing health problems, mainly due to the fact that it eliminates stress.
