Precisely. Unhealthy food from a consumer standpoint gives you more effective food per dollar; it's more filling, and easier to prepare to boot. Healthy food costs more, is less filling, and takes more effort and time (and resources--gas/electricity for the oven/microwave, spices, herbs, etc.). From a completely practical standpoint, the only advantage of springing for the healthy food is that it's less harsh on your body.

I'm not as well read on the subject as my dad is, he's done extensive research to make sure we go about building up our farm properly. But from what I have read, people who start buying from local organic farmers start to become much healthier and have more energy as their bodies adjust to eating "real food". I suppose that's a no-brainer really. So far it seems to hold up. I've experienced largely the same thing since we starting eating our own chickens and the fruit that grows on what we have so far.

Yes. It's totally me and not the fact that big food corporations routinely get their executives into positions in the USDA

We don't. I'm not sure if we're going to grow anything like that unless it's a byproduct.
