an animal can easily have a rapid maturity cycle and then a long life afterwards. In fact, thats pretty ideal for an organism.

I was referring to the lack of such longlived organisms. But anyway, the larger and more complex a lifeform is, the longer it takes to mature. Dragons are pretty damn huge and complex.

nonetheless, wrathion was a baby in ravenholdt, and he's still a baby in pandaria. he's not even a big whelp (like those in BEM), he's a small whelp.

maybe he'll steal nozdormu's pubes and use them to accelerate his own growth, but up until now it appears his growth is slow paced.

You guys are all talking about the longer it takes for an animal/organism to become sexually mature depends on how long it lives...you guys do realize humans are becoming sexually mature younger and younger now right?... It use to start as 10 to a teenager but reports are stating that girls are starting puberty around 6-8 these years. Aka hormonal product within foods ect...whats not to say the "growth spurt" to purify and age Wrathion to his current mental state hasn't worked the same.

I remember reading in one of the novels that when Malygos thought his dragonflight was lost forever, Alexstrasza was going to help him rebuild it. That led me to believe the different flights can interbreed.

Also, aren't the Nether Dragons descendents or ascendants of the Black Dragonflight? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they are.

Lets at least keep the pedophile to a minimum... Wrathion might act like an adult, but he still isn't that old, whats to say whelps don't turn drake until their young adults...

She appears as a full-fledged dragon at the end of Culling of Stratholme in WotLK, but appears as a whelp in the hyjal dailies.

Plus, they're dragons... they can probably appear as whatever they wish to appear as when they obtain significant levels of power.

Turtles mature very fast, but live to ages 100 or 200 in some extreme cases. It can easily be applied to dragons.

heh, was probably just an example, but if you want example of forced maturing, there's the way they retconned Garona's age by saying the shadow council had an orc rape a draenei and then forcefully aged her once she was born.
