New Build - Items List and Suggestions

    Hello Fellow MMO-C goers,

I am saving the funds to build a new rig this summer and was curious what you all think about the parts list I have put together. I do need some advice on the size of a PSU that I would need. All comments are more than welcome.

    So far:
    Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119245
    Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131821
    GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130782
    Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115233
    HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136555

    Things I still Need:
OS - going to stick with windows 7 for now.
RAM - I really am open to suggestions. I would love to get some high speed ram and 8 gigs.
PSU - Open to suggestions although I would like to make the switch over to Modular
Good After Market cooler. I am not confident enough to try water cooled yet.

Like I said before, This is open to suggestions. The things I have links for are probably what I will end up pulling the trigger on.
Thank You Shyama for the sig again!!

You need the I5-3570K if you want to overclock.

I suggest this aftermarket cooler for overclocking: Noctua NH-D14

Everything else looks fine. You could just get a normal WD green 7200 RPM 1/2 tb instead of the 10k rpm one you chose.

Like Diesta said, get a i5-3570K, the K lets you OC and it's extremely simple to do, and nets a big enough performance increase to warrant the $20.

PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139012 - the 650w is well over the size you need to run almost any rig, but this would give you headroom to add another 670 in the near future. Obviously there are other 70 or 80$ PSUs you can get that will work but a PSU is the one thing you never want to skimp out on since it can literally fry your entire rig if it's a bad one.

    RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231445 blue ram
    RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314 red ram

$3 difference is the color + cas latency on the blue is a tiny bit lower. Blue would go well with that board, since it's an amazing board. Up to you on that though.

You might want to consider getting a 7200 RPM WD Green like Diesta said as well, and pick up an SSD as well, the quality of life upgrade is amazing.

WD red is designed for NAS setups (Network Attached Storage) and while they are "better" there's no reason at all to dump more money in an unnecessary improvement, if any improvement over wd green for home use.

In terms of the case, you might consider the HAF 932 or 942. they have better fan options available if you decide want to do some serious cooling and air flow.
Yes, definitely the 3570K, easier overclocking, and it's easy to OC these days.

As far as liquid cooling, really not that hard to install atm. Sure for true customized liquid cooling, it's going to be difficult, but if you are looking at basic and good, the Corsair H100's are good and easy to install.

In terms of SSD, personally, I'd go 256gb size and not 120gb. 120 is good, but I think it will fill up fast depending on how much gaming you decide to do. If you are like me and are pretty diverse, then bigger will be better and worth the extra case. WoW, GW2, D3, Skyrim, SWTOR, and you're pretty much maxxed or more that 120gb. side note: if you can find good one cheap and around 90gb or so, it might not be a bad idea to set that one up as the boot drive, and just leave that for OS, AV, etc... with the bigger one for all the gaming stuff. and the 7200 for all the video, music, and not speed related stuff.

As far as PSU, especially if you aren't going on the cheap, get a gold plus. Seasonics are kind of the standard in PSU's these days, so look there. And get a modular unit. Once you've gone modular, you'll never go back to normal.

I personally feel the Sabertooth is a waste of money. There's nothing wrong with it, but you can get a board that's pretty much just as good for $100 less, which can then go back into your system for something that will actually help.

Read some reviews and tests. Red is barely more expensive than green and obliterates green in all areas.

Honestly (and this is just opinion), I'd rather save 10-15 bucks on a $100 item when it comes to benchmarks of a drive that holds movies and music. I Just don't see a use for having a super fast, super responsive drive on something that gets accessed for 1gb a few times a day.

check for an aftermarket cooler on the gpu , while evga one at stock isn't that bad as most people make it to be. (dual fan setup usually is better overall unless rear exhaust is required due to air flow of case, evga signature 2 would be a good alternative )

With EVGA stopping their lifetime warranty I don't see a single reason to ever get a EVGA card anymore, even their non-reference cooler is sub-par compared to the other brands.

I guess their factory mounted waterblock cards might be useful still.
