In high school/early twenties I went out of my way to befriend people like her, call it nightingale syndrome or w/e, but I wanted to help. Looking back, yea I have some regrets, the problem with befriending "broken" people is they are just that, broken - they have a tendency to hurt the people around them just as much as they might hurt themselves. But on whole I can say I tried to be a good person at least.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." is ofc the most appropriate thing to say. I've always believed that those who stand by and watch bad things happen are to be condemned as well, but that is a personal matter you need to figure out for yourself - know one here is going to sway you either way.
She was undoubtedly stupid beyond belief, but what the recipient did was 5x worse. Theres a pretty massive difference in sending a stupid ass pic to someone you think you care about, and sending it to the entire school. The latter would have definately been attention whorish on the levels most people are accusing her of, but she didnt. What she did, was trust a teenage boy (which is a stupid thing to do in itself). Teenage boys are NOT to be trusted, AT ALL, with ANYTHING from a girls point of view. I would be interested to find out if her parents taught her this fact or not.
i hope she isnt using suicide threat as something "light" (as in, she doesnt actually even intend to do it, she just wants people to get off her back) that would irritate me beyond belief and nulify most of my sympathies with her.
I guess I don't get it. My perception of this circumstance is that two kids behaved stupidly, the boy probably had some malice, but that I'm generally unconcerned with the behavior of teenagers, as I expect it to be almost uniformly horrible.
Sympathy for people struggling with things that seem trivial to me has never been my strong suit though.
nope, never waste time on losers, life is to short to help waste of space types.
I remember a story a few months back of a local school. A teacher found pictures of themselves naked on a bunch of student's phones which they passed to each other. The thing that shocked the teacher was the attitude of the students when they sat down the students with the parents was the WORSE thing that would happen to them when taking the pictures were they were going to get detention/grounded. Teachers and parents defiantly to step up the education campaign .
As much as people say yelling suicide is a cry for attention it's a cry for help too. She's probably getting bullied both at school and online. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening. Sadly, the police in most cases can't do much, the schools are usually powerless to stop it, and family doesn't know how to handle the situation leaving the person to suffer. It's not really surprising suicide, drugs, or alcohol become the way of dealing with it.
To answer OP's question it really is up to you if you care or not. It sounds like you don't and that's okay. But at some point in the future that could easily be your sister, niece, or daughter in a similar situation. It's funny how many people start "caring" about a situation when it starts to affect them.
Not really emotionless since you worried enough about your emotions (being worried is an emotion too) to post it on here. MMO-C heroes will tell you strange stuff btw.
Really mainstream.Suicide to get attention? Really? <.<

The people that have the pictures and are distributing them can be charge whit child porn offences(distribution and possession) if they are of a pornographic nature(which they aren't) conversely i have heard of cases which would also charge the girl with distribution as well which is kind of funny.
I also have never got the point in trying to save suicidal people, if they do not want to be here why waste time and resources on them when they could be used on people that want to live
Be careful how this pans out remember Amanda Todd !!!!!
I'd say you were emotionless if your loved ones were killed in front of you and you didn't care or other extreme examples, but not in a situation like this, and especially not when she's the one at fault for creating the content and distributing it (Even if it was for his eyes only) in the first place.
Dumb people do dumb things. It happens. If she's going to threaten to kill herself over some nearly-nude pictures of herself, I doubt she'd be able to handle any kind of traumatic incident. Sure, it's unfortunate for her, and it's probably going to haunt her for many years if she decides to attempt to get over it, but that doesn't mean that you're emotionless 'cause someone done fucked up and you don't give a flying fartsicle.
