If you are getting artifacts when there is no overclocking is usually a pretty "good" sign.
Intel i5-3570K @ 4.7GHz | MSI Z77 Mpower | Noctua NH-D14 | Corsair Vengeance LP White 1.35V 8GB 1600MHz
Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Windforce 3X @ 1372/7604MHz | Corsair Force GT 120GB | Silverstone Fortress FT02 | Corsair VX450
well i randomly get a black screen for like half a sec then goes back to normal lately does that mean bad news?
That's usually just driver crashes, which GPU do you have?
i7-6700k 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GTX 980 | 16GB Kingston HyperX | Intel 750 Series SSD 400GB | Corsair H100i | Noctua IndustialPPC
ASUS PB298Q 4K | 2x QNIX QH2710 | CM Storm Rapid w/ Reds | Zowie AM | Schiit Stack w/ Sennheiser HD8/Antlion Modmic
Armory
Yeah sounds like a driver crash, you should try updating them.

what does driver sweeper do?
It helps with removing all the files of the previous driver, if you just uninstall it there are a lot of files left.

A good start would be to look at the GPU fan to see if it still work, other than that you can look at the temperature (I recommend Open Hardware Monitor), if temperature is very high (like 60+ on idle) then it's a sign that your video card is currently degrading and will eventually die.
At 6850 is a good card for the price but do not buy XFX cards, they aren't that great. Get video cards from ASUS, MSI, EVGA or Gigabytes. As for a new card recommendation, it depend on your budget, at ~300$ I recommend an Nvidia 660ti (from the bands I mentioned).

Warrax, Fury Warrior
Silika, BM Hunter
i can afford the 660ti easily. Ive had this card for about 3 years now so i think its time. I have a habbit of always changing things out.
