    Need some advice

First of its great to finally sign up, I ve been a lurker for sometime.

Well my conundrum is that I recently bought a new laptop($1100) to supplement my iPad and desktop. I am in college and living off campus and thought that I could use the laptop but I am finding it that I am still able to use my iPad on most things and when I get home I work on my desktop anyway.

So my conundrum is should i return the laptop and update my desktop(its 1.5 years old)? Its not really great for gaming it works on low for wow but that could just be my flaky internet.

    Just looking for some thoughts.

My current specs of my desktop are:

    6gb ram
    HD 7750 GPU
    AMD 840T 2.9 GHz
    1TB

It was a prebuilt and if I did return the laptop I would like to just start a new build from scratch. I dont think i can salvage much from it otherwise(the HDD and CD-drive i could probally.

well again just looking for some thoughts.

    Thanks

I would do a full new build, $1100 seems like a waste on something you hardly use. With that kind of money you can build a pretty good desktop.

Something like this is what you could get:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($223.79 @ Amazon)

Wow was not expecting to get a recommended build. Thank you for your input. Guessing that would run circles around my current desktop?

After fiddling around with this laptop tonight I think I will return it. It is slow... probably slower then my iPad. 1100 is a waste and beings uncle sam(woot tax returns) is paying for half of this machine I better spend it on something that I will use. It will take a week or two to get back my money since i ordered online, but when i do get it back should necro this thread or start a new one, because I will probably play around with that build a bit(I dont think I am ready for overclocking this would be my first build your own.

Well again thanks and good night!!...or good morning if it happens to be where you are.
