    Help Stop Faulty Generalizations.

After watching several game play reviews I began to notice a growing trend.
People referring to ANY type of shooter(and in some cases games that simply feature guns) as FPS.

FPS stands for First Person Shooter.
A First-person shooter (FPS) is a video game genre centered on gun and projectile weapon-based combat through a first-person perspective; that is, the player experiences the action through the eyes of the protagonist.
Using the term incorrectly makes the gaming community look bad as a whole.

So if you know someone who is using FPS incorrectly and let them know.

-I don't care what the next expansion is about, as long as the story is dark and rich so I can refer to it as Chocolate WoW.

There are a lot of terms that are badly used.

FPS stands for frames per second though.

People call tactics games RTSs all the time too. The genres are close enough that it doesn't matter a whole lot. You're aiming a gun and shooting at stuff, regardless of perspective. And lets not even get into the abuse that RPG and MMO both get... I think there's already a thread on that.
