Most of the people say that patch 5.2 will arrive on 5th march but at what time? Is it going to arrive at midnight? What do you think?

Umm, it will probably launch during the obnoxiously long maintenance that always happens on patch day. Expect it 8-9PM Eastern.

When the servers come up from maintenance. Why would it be released at midnight?

The expansion released at midnight, so Its reasonable to believe 5.2 would be the same.
But usually content patches like this one are delivered via server maintenance.
We'll just have to wait and see for the official word.

According to the login screen maintenance is from 3a.m. - 11a.m. pacific. Usually for patches, maintenance can run over so It will probably be ~1pm pacific before servers are back up.

Server maintenance was already done for the expansion when the previous patch was released. We were effectively playing the expansion with a timer for the new zones to unlock. That is not the case here. The patch is not live on the servers nor has the content for the patch been downloaded. Originally Posted by BuddhaBear
Expect the extended maintenance downtime window which always starts at 3am. If Blizzard has problems on patch day (which they typically do) expect the servers to not be available on time. We always canceled our Tuesday raids on patch day.

Because the sun hits mainland Europe fifteen hours later than it hits California, that's why. Blame the laws of physics. Don't worry, you'll still get world firsts because career videogaming isn't something that really exists in the United States.

Actually, it hits Europe 9 hours before California. It's already tuesday in Europe, but still monday in the US. But the EU servers have a different maintenance schedule, so patches usually end up going live a day later, which also means that they usually already get the zero day hotfixes right off the bat. Is my memory completely off, but didn't they use to back to back maintance on both EU and US realms on friday mornings (ie. first the EU servers went offline for maintenance and when they came back up, the US servers would have their turn). I seem to remember there was a bit of drama around it being moved to two different days, because US guilds would have an entire extra day to work on world firsts.

Sites that track progression (wowprogress, guildox, etc) track release time deviation so that it's as if everyone started at the same time. Just sayin. Originally Posted by Lumineus
