a few months back i posted a thread about my wife checking out of our marriage. At the time i had no clue why and what to do. 2 days ago she finally admitted that she is a lesbian now and was having an affair with another woman. How does this happen im confused but at least its a bit of closure.

Quite simple. She has intimate thoughts about other women. As to how that comes about, bit more complicated but it's a combination of nature and nurture, and likely are thoughts that she's held onto for a long time.

I hope so, when my life comes down in tatters I'm coming right here for compassion and sympathy. MMO-C forum users are filled to the brim with it. Don't worry mate if she's happier all the better and you can move on. I would make sure she isn't just into both ways though. Ideally it will be better for both of you in the long haul. Lick your wounds for a bit and then get back on the horse and ride. Remain friends though, don't turn into some psycho gay basher over it.
