    Children and today's society.

I was wondering if any of you wants a child and if so why?

Today's society has more depressions than ever before ( 1 out of 3 students will have a depression during his/her schoolyears). The media tells us to be perfect, Sex and drugs becomes cooler at a younger age (I see alot of 12 year olds bragging about what sexual activities they have preformed and bragging about having weed in their pocket [Weed here is legal from the age of 18]). Teen pregnancies get portrayed by the media as cute (see : teen mom, 16 and pregnant, tiener moeders), the economic crisis just gets worse, they probably wont get retirement ever, alot of influence of the multiculturality and being forced to think multicultural [If you have a complete black flemish lion flag here instead of one with red claws and tongue, you can get called a racist]. Teen suicides (a 10 year old hanging himself for example), Kids cyberbullying eachother to the death, and the list goes on and on.

If you look at all these things how does your child have a future and would it be fair to the child to let it live in a world that is just getting worse?

I have no desire to have a child, but it has nothing to do with the various rants about how terrible the world is. There's no better time and place to be born, ever, than right here, right now.

The world is just fine, problem is most of the population has been raised to be giant pussies.

What makes you say that? They probably won't have a good future.

Long life expectancies, amazing technology, high likelihood of a great education, falling crime rates that are staggeringly low in wealthy communities, falling teen pregnancy rates, a society that's less and less bigoted all the time, and so on.

People have always had fantasies of a dystopic future. Your ideas are not new, clever, or accurate.

By whose standards? A kid growing up in a post-apocalyptic zombie world would make his way fine because it's all he would know.

This is not uniformly true; I'm not what you'd strictly call "older", but I'm just shy of 28, have a career that's taking shape and is fairly advanced for the age, and my lack of desire for kids is probably stronger than ever. I see absolutely nothing in it for me to have children.

*Technology : It has been proven that since our technology is getting better the people's mental health is getting worse
*Crime : Ok in wealthy neighbourhoods it might be less but to get in a wealthy neighbourhood isn't easy these days and in the low income areas the crime rates are high such as drug use.
*Longer life: That point is true
*Great education : they all chose to do BSO these days which are study directions for the less intelligent here.
*Falling teen pregnancy : can i see your source on that?
*Less bigoted : Are you serious? The problems with multiculturality have never been worse.

Yes it is, where is the problem? Half of your examples are like saying "I can't let my girlfriend out, she will get raped" with a true chance of like 1:100000.

So, my children will have, free education to do everything they want. Stable and good healthcare, a peaceful country etc etc. Hey my grandmother grew up during WW2, and I'm here, can't be that bad.

1 out of 3 is more than 1 to 100000.

I have a desire to get Children one day, but it's not yet. I might be an adult, but i'm far too immature to take care of children.

If the world is so horrible, why do you continue living?

I've already raised two sisters almost as my own, I'm confident I can do a solid job with a real child, enough to at least give them a better chance than most.

If you get me a decent source on that number. I mean I knew 2 people that get into depression in their teen years, both while working at a bank. But then I'm a bit older than most of your numbers, maybe todays teens just are broken somehow.

    Dead wrong, by any measure.

Irrelevant for me; I have a Ph.D. in Microbiology and my girlfriend is getting a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. I'm confident any child I had would have a high likelihood of a strong education.

I refer you to colored only bathrooms.

    Basically, you're babbling nonsensically.

When you compare how easy it was living in various eras of the past to how easy it is living in a Western country today, this question answers itself.

As for why I want children, because I desire a marriage and if both man and woman are biologically capable, children come with any meaningful marriage.

As for all the potential problems facing children you mentioned, I know my children won't have those problems because I will be raising them instead of one of the vast number of worthless parents we have today.

So as I have no texts of that person (or can read dutch for that matter) could you give me his sources, if you have read his materials, he will have footnoted them.

Hey my gf and me have no Ph.D. and our children would have a great educational future (Probably not college degree, but who cares)
