    Do you buy computer magazines?

I stopped doing this for like over 10 years now, and I ask myself why do these magazines still exist and how the heck can they survive?
To clarify the issue, I'm referring to real magazines printed on paper, both types, computer games and computer hardware.

Sometimes I still do it, and when I open the magazine... it's basically all outdated, the information amount is low and not very detailed, same thing applies to their tests. The free software that comes with it is pointless too. In the internet you can find computer hardware tests that go over 15+ pages, and what does a computer hardware specialist journal offer you? Maybe like one or two pages, often only half a page (they need space for ads), and in most cases you get the review with one month delay = old news in the internet. Apart from that, if you're interested in something, be it hardware or a game, you're not gonna rely on one single short review anyway.

So basically I can't find one good thing about computer related printed magazines, the internet is better in every aspect I can think of, yet there still is a big variety of them at my newspaper shop. Worst two things with these printed magazines is that they are already outdated when they appear and that they aren't in-depth enough.

For me it's not about the money they cost, it's just pointless...

    Your opinion?

Magazines are good for finding info you'd never come up on your own in your own small circle. Most people follow 3-4 favourite sites and miss a ton of news that does not appear there.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

Eh, I haven't bought a computer magazine for a long time.
I keep up with about 4 to 5 different sites (and two of them do provide magazines.)
There isn't all that much that changes in the computer world for me. Maybe a new wave of Nvidia or AMD graphics. New upcoming Intel processors. A new Tablet or Smartphone hardly any different then from the last.
As odd as it seems to me, but Popular Science tends to always have the latest in some sort of odd computer tech that I have never heard of, and their not really a computer specific magazine. Meanwhile the other computer magazines / websites are rolling around in smartphone wars and have hardly any mention of anything Popsci pulls up...

many people buy physical magazines so they can just go and chill out and read something they enjoy without distractions. I know if I start reading news on the net I get distracted very easily and after five minutes I'll be doing something completely different. with a magazine/paper you can just get away from things and focus on reading it.

you also find a lot of things that you wouldn't specifically look out for on the internet. personally I skip through articles on the net and typically only read things that I know I will like. with a magazine, however, I'd generally read most of the articles and find interesting things that I would have missed out on.

I buy 2 every month. I usually read them on the bench while my kiddo plays at the park or when she is in the tub playing... I like it because it offers another option for insight into parts, trends ect that i may have missed on the websites i use. Also, i prefer to read on paper vs on monitor or iPad. I know its a shock but i still buy books and use the library 2.

The ONLY physical mag I get is Game Informer, and that's because I have a rewards card with GameStop. I don't ever read it, I just give them to my friends.

That one magazine, is it called CPU? They have printed so much blatant misinformation I want to write in and complain...

Not to mention the awesome ad from CyberPC that had an i7-990X in a LGA 1155 system. -.-

    Magazines need to die already.

Haven't bought a magazine for at least a decade now, and even when I did it was usually only when it came with something cool like a demo disc or some free apps (except with CTW, which is a trade magazine - these tend to contain info you won't find elsewhere).

Nowadays the internet has most if not all of the same information, for free. Print is a dying medium.

The place I usually eat lunch at have T3, PCGamer & TechLife magazines, would I buy them if I couldn't read them there? Nope.
