I stopped doing this for like over 10 years now, and I ask myself why do these magazines still exist and how the heck can they survive?
To clarify the issue, I'm referring to real magazines printed on paper, both types, computer games and computer hardware.
Sometimes I still do it, and when I open the magazine... it's basically all outdated, the information amount is low and not very detailed, same thing applies to their tests. The free software that comes with it is pointless too. In the internet you can find computer hardware tests that go over 15+ pages, and what does a computer hardware specialist journal offer you? Maybe like one or two pages, often only half a page (they need space for ads), and in most cases you get the review with one month delay = old news in the internet. Apart from that, if you're interested in something, be it hardware or a game, you're not gonna rely on one single short review anyway.
So basically I can't find one good thing about computer related printed magazines, the internet is better in every aspect I can think of, yet there still is a big variety of them at my newspaper shop. Worst two things with these printed magazines is that they are already outdated when they appear and that they aren't in-depth enough.
For me it's not about the money they cost, it's just pointless...
