    New RAM!

    Hello.

I’ve been getting BSoD lately – a lot. I tried to take two of my total four RAM out and it seems like the problem is gone so I guess one of the RAM blocks was defective or damaged somehow. Anyway that means I have total 8 gb out of 16 gb which is not enough for me.. hehe!

Therefore, I am looking for some new. I’ve been looking at http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=752036 for a couple of days now. For that price (100.44 €) I think they are great. The lower the CL is the better. Right?

The ones I had previously was Corsair Vengeance 16 gb 1600Mhz CL9. I’ve only had Kingston or Corsair in my life and have no experience whatsoever with Crucial.

*I've also been looking at a new GFX. http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=750410 looks great right?

My CPU is AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition if that should be needed.

What is it you do that requires more than 8gb? Also, While technically lower CL is 'faster', there's really no real world difference at all.

I don't need 16 gb as such it's just a matter of principle that I want 16 gb in my PC. I've always had that so it feels wrong/weird knowing that I "only" have 8 gb. I know it is silly but thats just how I feel :-)

Yes lower CL is better. But as chazus mentions, you're not going to feel the difference i average desktop/gaming use.

And that Crucial set is fine for what you need

How about the difference from 1600MHz to 1866MHz? I'm no expert at RAM really

Unless you're a RAM enthusiast, there is little reason to go beyond 1600 Mhz C9. The performance gains are marginal w/ respect to price.

Personally I think you should save the money on the ram, and get a better video card. Adding ram simply won't do anything for you.

Right now I have ATI Radeon hd 5770 1GB. Would it make sense to change that to an Radeon HD 7850 2GB instead or is that just waste of money?

That is actually an excellent upgrade.

With the money saved you could get a 7870 or 7870 XT

I second this. The 7870 (or XT) is a lot better than your 5770.

I personally purchase my hardware from komplett even when the price is a little higher than the rest, the support is amazing.

As for the ram, your just wasting your money mate. Get yourself a nice grapphic card like the 7870XT and you wont have a problem maxing out games. 16 gb ram wont do you anything unless you do very much rendering work.

Looks like komplett gives you 2 amazing games with your purchase ( played tomb raider, amazing game) , so you should go for that if you want the games.
