Ion Hazzikostas Interview Patch 5.3 and Siege of Orgrimmar - codeX

I have the oportunity to interview Ion Hazzikostas and talk about the future of World of Warcraft.
No surprises but some interesting information:

The interview was in english, just the intro is portuguese.

* They will update Brawlers Guild but not every patch
* Patch 5.4 will be on PTR very soon
* Siege of Orgrimmar will be in many places, not only Orgrimmar.
* They are happy with Throne of Thunder size and bosses. They plan to keep raids this size with the same amount of bosses.
* We will see full open war between Ally and Horde on patch 5.4 (I dont understand that)

Yeah, and it's really funny to see too.

Wanna know why?

Because the community, specifically MMO-C's, has found itself insulting and throwing bash after bash at Blizzard, even when during this expansion they've:

1. Listened to the community more than ever before.
2. Communicated with the community more than ever before.
3. Implemented suggestions given by the community more than ever before.
4. Added more content than ever before.

And STILL we have people saying "LOLNOPEWORSTXPACKEVER".

Sure, guys, you may not like the theme nor the direction the game is going on, but at least give fucking credit where it's due.

The amount of effort put into this expansion has been staggering.

I find it absolutely fantastic they're continuing on their word though.

World of Warcraft will survive the storm, but we're still in the middle of the storm.

Open War probably is a hint about the new daily faction(s) being spread out throughout the Old World like the August Celestials are spread out about Pandaria.

I think they also mean that SoO will be alot bigger then just the capital of Orgrimmar.

Examples:

Durotar.
The Barrens.
Azshara.

That's what I hope it is. That we start at the Rebel base in North Barrens and push through Durotar (Razor Hill) and into Orgrimmar.

But DS is still too fresh a memory for me to not ignore the fact they could mean portaling between various arenas...

It would have to be. Orgrimmar is big but not big enough for a 10+ boss raid instance. There's also the question of where the portal should be located since Org still needs to function as the Horde capital city after MoP but the raid instance needs to remain.

There HAS to be some sort of teleportation I really doubt Blizzard actually puts the portal to the Raid so close to the main city of Horde players. Aside from that, theres limitless things they can end up doing with the actual Raid itself in terms of scale and enviorment. Some of you are underestimating how big the caverns and outer areas of the city actually are.

PS. There better be another Gunship fight!, its like the norm for last Tier's, and a gunship in an invasion of this scale would actually be awesome.

I expect we start one place like Barrens and went to Azshara (Goblins?).

Went Orgrimmar and then Under Orgrimmar.

And maybe a race between Horde and Alliance to see who kill Garrosh? Or conquer the city?

Caverns of Time is done. Noz has no powers. Caverns of time cant be used.

Not to mention there's no way of trying to explain why we'd be using it to teleport to a current event, since we would have no reason to be there in the first place. At least with DS as far as the story was concerned we'd just been back in time to get the dragon soul after going to the future to kill Murozond and needed a quick means of transport to Dragonblight.

Caverns of Times still exist. Nefarious people want to abuse the caverns of time and the bronze dragonflight is mortal and needs help, Timewalkers faction will come in as mortals helping them, but not for MoP.

To say Caverns of Time is done because Nozdormu is powerless(which he isn't, he's not as powerful and a mortal now) is to think the Emerald dream is gone. Or that magic was "done" because there was no aspect of magic for awhile.

I don't think this means what some people think it means. He's probably referring to Garrosh' Horde against the Alliance. The Horde players won't be fighting Alliance though.

Intresting, because one of the reasons why Blizzard is not just doing Org as the Raid is because of the complaints of DS which was only basicly Dragonblight and Deathwing's back. So that argument doesnt work People didnt complain because it had to many enviorments they complained because it had few.

They also hated how DS just took portals everywhere. It felt jumpy and disconnected, not large and epic.
