Crazy feminist crackpot gets two guys fired over nothing.

    http://butyoureagirl.com/14015/forki...h-conferences/

"Nothing" in this case equates to "bad jokes about the word dongle."

This bitch is completely out of her mind. She overheard a pair of knuckleheads making bad jokes about "dongles" sounding a bit like "dong" and proceeded to take their picture, tweet about them sexually harassing her, and now thinks she's the next Rosa Parks. Note that they were talking to each other, not her, and were in no way referencing her or the female gender.

The poor guys were fired. One of them even apologized (there was nothing to apologize for), but that's not enough for this lunatic.

Please try and keep this thread civil and refrain from calling each other names. Thanks

Were they or were they not making a dongle joke because it sounds like dong?

Because I don't give a fuck what type of work environment you're in, but this is taught as a no-no on day 1 of sexual harassment training.

They were at a tech conference, it isn't disclosed whether or not they were on the clock.

Either way, it's fucking ridiculous that a few Beavis and Butthead giggles of "Ehehehe.. Dongles.. ehehehe.." is enough to get someone publicly lambasted and fired. Women like that are the ones who give all women in the workplace a bad name.

Sounds like those guys were stupid for telling inappropriate jokes in public. that woman definitely over reacted and the guys did not warrant being sacked, a warning was due though, don't tell such jokes around strangers.

I tell the most homophobic, racist and offensive jokes while at work, but these are people I know well, I certainly would not be daft enough to repeat them in front of strangers. Sad these guys are being punished, but maybe their story will serve as a lesson for others.

Employers don't take accusations of hostile work environment lightly; this is because negligence when there has been a valid report is a Grade A way to get their asses sued.

Yes, we should all have to put up with immature sexual innuendo in a professional environment. How shortsighted of me.

I forgot to mention that the crazy fucking bitch doesn't work for the same company. She was just there, and was annoyed that the two of them were giggling about "dongles," so she took their picture and got them fired.

It doesn't matter. They were proven to be creating hostile work environments. This is grounds for dismissal.

I saw this on escapistmagazine.com and was going to make a post about it, albeit with a more neutral tone. While the rise of the femenist gamer "grrl" agenda has been going on for a few months, I think recently they've started to make headway in the industry. Perhaps we can still have intelligent discourse without attracting misogynists/feminists with an attention-grabbing headline.

One reason why I prefer competitive multiplayer games (online and off) is because I can objectify opponents. When I'm top lane in LoL, running down a healer on my Death Knight, or drawing my card in Magic, I don't consider or care who my opponent is. I don't care if they work 10 hours a day, come home to a cheating spouse and screaming kids, and only has 30 minutes in the day to play a game, that person is my target. Regardless of gender, ligion, etc., they are an obstacle. Teammates are a different story, but most of the time, I have my pick, so we usually bullshit around anyway. The problem that many people run into, though, lies in working together. Both guys and women tear apart raid groups, teams, bands, whatever. It's not just one or the other, which leads me to my opinion.

What she did was certainly hypocritical. If you read her blog, she's just as demeaning to men. Sites like jezebel.com also promote this "us or them" mentality, and gives feminists an ax to grind. Gears of War, Tomb Raider, and Heart of the Swarm were all criticized for taking away the empowered female, and God of War even got an achievement changed, (Bros beBefore Hos). So, what's yours, or anyone's perspective? Get some females to share some insight, too.

Work places have become so hyper sensitive about sexual harassment, it certainly sucks the life out of the day.

"I saw a photo on main stage of a little girl who had been in the Young Coders workshop.
I realized I had to do something or she would never have the chance to learn and love programming because the ass clowns behind me would make it impossible for her to do so."

Seems like a bit of an over reaction to me, a couple of immature jokes mean a young girl can never aspire in the field? She could just turned to them and asked them to behave appropriately maybe? Instead she lambasted them via twitter and they lost their jobs.

Now don't get me wrong, I understand and agree with why the company gave them the sack, however it seems to me that if she had more backbone and just told the little boys to behave the issue would have been resolved without the public display.

It was at a presentation during a conference. Lots of people were there, and by the angle of the shot, she was a good distance away. It's much like having a private conversation in a public place, as mentioned by another poster. This isn't as cut and dried as you'd think. Definitely different in, say, an office.

Wow fuck that noise, If I couldn't make jokes about whatever I wanted I wouldn't work there period the end. Glad I am co-owner of our family business and only 2 women that work in the shop are my wife and mom. If they get pissy I tell them to get over it and expect them to make jokes back at us.

Riiight, so you equate it with her being able to enter a bar / pub then overhear them sitting at a table making the same joke should get them fired? (you are the one using the term "in public") As long as they weren´t adressing her then she really need to get over herself, and adjust her sense of humor otherwise the entire workplace will be a hell hole.

No, it's not. Corporations require their employees to abide by rules of behavior even at conferences.

People need to make jokes about dongs in a professional setting? Grow the fuck up.

"Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately." From the Code of Conduct.

She never asked them to stop. She took their picture and posted it without permission to humiliate them for making silly jokes to each other in the middle of a convention. In trying to make a welcoming environment for women, she succeeded in creating a tense environment for interactions between the two genders. She should have handled it properly by asking them to stop, and giving them the option to be mature.

We'll just have to agree to disagree about what defines a "hostile" work environment. A guy going up to her and saying something like, "Hey Sugar Tits, hows about we go to my place?" would be harassment sufficient to warrant a hostile work environment. A pair of morons giggling about dongles just... Jesus, why do I even have to point this out?

Heart of the Swarm taking away the "empowered" female? Did she play the same game? I´m not through it yet, but from what I see Kerrigan is on a rampage - and if thats not empowered I don´t know what is. Problem is she can´t look past her own issues and see the bigger picture, or let certain things go - and if the story lines are so bad she could make her own games.
