Is there a noticable difference in cloth armor vs plate? dmg reduction

I cant seem to understand a mage at lvl 90 with good gear goes around 456k hp or more where as a warrior only hits 430k Is this because armor?

ilvl difference? buffs? everyone except tanks have similar hp when both are same ilvl.

Gemming + iLvL differences. I can't imagine that armor (as in the armor stat, not cloth vs plate) has any bearing on the amount of stamina on an item.

If an armor piece has the same item level and number of sockets (not sure if it affects stamina though), it doesn't matter what armor class it is (or even which spec it is).
