Thinking of building a gaming PC

I'm looking into building a gaming PC at some point. I'm mostly doing research right now. I don't have a huge budget, but I would like the computer to last for a while. I'm not too interested in playing games on High or Ultra. I'm more interested in playability than prettiness.

I've been assembling a list of components (mainly from Tom's Hardware). I'd like to know your opinion's on them. Do they even work together? I know I'm missing pieces, but I think (correct me if I'm wrong) these are the most important.
    CPU: Intel Core i5-3350P - ~$200
Graphics Card: Radeon HD 7870 LE - ~$250
Motherboard: ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard ~$60

I would appreciate any help or advice I can get. Is there anything specific I should change or add?

    I5 3470 instead of 3350p maybe,
3470 has a better clock speed and also has integrated graphics which you can fall back on if you gfx card dies.

7870's are great value cards, huge performance for their price.

So the pieces you are missing are a power supply, hard drive, optical drive, RAM and a case.

the biggest piece of advice i can give you is do not go budget on a power supply, you dont need a huge power supply but you want quality.

    Ram, buy what is cheap.

Don't get the H77 board. It's an older Sandy Bridge board that won't be able to use Ivy Bridge chips by default, and requires a bios update.

Go with either a B75, or if you want to upgrade to an i5-3570K later, Z75/Z77

h77 was released with ivy bridge and should support an Ivy OOTB. Cougar point chipsets usually had a 6 in them.

    I was mistaken, I was thinking H67.

However, the point still stands that it does not support the 3350P without a bios update.
