[Movies] Greastest Movies of all Time

MSN just posted their version of the best/greatest movies, the top 100. Some I agree with, some I don't. For example, Fiddler on the Roof is not listed. Neither is Jesus Christ Superstar or The Ten Commandments. Some I don't know how they got listed cause they are not great movies but I suppose it's all subjective. The link for the article is below and the list of my top ten favorites. What are your top ten favs of all time?

    My top ten favs are:
    1: The Sound of Music
    2: West Side Story
    3: Fiddler on the Roof
    4: Jesus Christ Superstar
    5: Gone with the Wind
    6: The Ten Commandments
    7: To Kill a Mockingbird
    8: The Lion King
    9: Titanic
    10: It's a Wonderful Life

It's a list of decent movies, a lot of great ones, albeit a handful of very strange choices, but in my opinion WAY too populist and US centric. Don't get me wrong, the US has a fantastic movie industry and have release a plethora of classics since it's inception but so has the so has the rest of the world, yet they are often underrepresented especially on American sites and publications.

IMO, this is the best list of greatest movies of all time: http://www.theyshootpictures.com/gf1...l1000films.htm
Sure, I might not completely agree with the order but the best of the best are all there (many newer movies probably won't show up on such a list until they have proven that they have stood the test of time).

That's like a whole lot of musicals, cartoons and Titanic is decent, but very far off from a top 200 even. Haven't even heard of the first 4.

Favorite top 10 movies of mine, and by which I mean I could watch at any point and enjoy it as much as the first time I seen it

    1 Dirty Harry
    2 Aliens
    3 The Boondock Saints
    4 The Godfather pt1
    5 Airplane!
    6 Gremlins
    7 Jurrasic Park
    8 Tremors

None of the "greats" as some people would claim, but they are amongst my favorite movies, Really hard to pick only 10 when you have a collection of over 600 movies :/

As much as I enjoy Kevin Smith, I'm not sure Mallrats goes on the list. It's not even his best movie. I would say Dogma or Red State are his best.

All time?? hmm. Candidates for me would be Dr Strangelove or The Godfather. It's so subjective though that it's impossible to pick one and not have someone disagree.

Please No Citizen Kane. That movie, though i'll admit is groundbreaking, is boring as all get out.

Let me save you 3 hours, it was his god damn sled.

Greatest movies ever made? I think IMDB's voted Top 250 is not bad (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=nb_mv_3_chttp), except for the Batman movie, of course:

    1. The Shawshank Redemption
    2. The Godfather
    3. The Godfather II
    4. Pulp Fiction
    5. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
    6. 12 Angry Men
    7. The Dark Knight (uh?!)
    8. Schindler's List
    9. The Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King
    10. Fight Club

    My top personal favorites:

    1. Gattaca
    2. Lord of War
    3. Leon
    4. Lord of the Rings trilogy
    5. Alien/Aliens II
    6. Terminator II/Terminator
    7. The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi
    8. Life is Beautiful (La vita è bella)
    9. The Matrix
    10. Die Hard

Bah, I couldn't resist, Honorable Mentions go to:
    * The Princess Bride
    * Watchmen
    * Fried Green Tomatoes

So, of the IMDB top 10 and the MSN Entertainment top 10 favorite films, only Lord of the Rings overlaps with my top list, though the Shawshank Redemption is definitely on my larger favorites list.

My absolute favorite movie is Jurassic park. It has that special fuzziness to it, atmosphere, personality and gives feelings of awe and amazement. It is in my opinion one of the few wonders of the movie industry.

Any list that doesn't start with Big Trouble in Little China is a fake list.

You know I once saw 5 minutes of this movie flipping channels. I was so freaked out what was going on I turned the T.v. off.
