After seeing the Aussie bus video with the racism, I remembered about this story from the other day. Shocking news, I find it very hard to believe that nobody else was on the bus who could stop it considering it was one of the last buses from the shopping centre (shuts at 10pm I'm sure), there was no CCTV and the driver knew nothing about it since I'm sure bus drivers have a capability to see to top floor via mirrors or cameras.

My condolences go to that girl and I'm happy the Good Samaritans were there to help her, it's a damn shame this kind of shit happens.

Public Transport seems to be a bad place to be a young woman these days. I think modern society is pushing out the fight instinct in people, so they sit meekly and let this shit happen, instead of intervening.

Come off it; this was an isolated incident that happened on one Glasgow bus; there are tens of thousands of bus trips made annually in Glasgow, and less than 0.01% of them result in a woman getting raped; it's a tragic case, but hardly anything to build a hypothesis regarding the safety of public transportation around.

Nice try; but they were both native Scots. Scotland doesn't have the same immigration woes that Britain has, 98% of our population are white. Bit peculiar really, Scotland doesn't really seem to get many immigrants, those who do are pretty well integrated culturally however.

How in the hell, were they even allowed to leave given that passengers came to girls aid.., they should have been detained till police arrived, or a couple of players should have gotten of with them at the park, and went to work on them!

Oh for Christs sake. Rape is terrible, but individual cases should not be news stories. There is a sexual assault in america roughly every 120 seconds (including men and women being assualted). Its awful, its bad, but writing an article about one case and having it circulate on reddit/mmo champ isn't going to solve anything.

Eh? I dont follow many scottish news sites but isnt it other way around. White/native person = no "race" mentioned. Immigrant = "race mentioned". Or as our media uses.. "person with foreign-country (aka immigrant) background"

If you'd read the article, it would be because the bus driver was unaware of the incident. It took place upstairs on the upper deck of the bus, which was completely empty at the time, asides from the rapists and the victim.
