Its like hardcore Diablo III, my internet lagged and killed my HC hero, all it takes is one spike and you're gone. Not saying that thats what the next Xbox will be like, but internet stability single-highhandedly ruined that whole game for me.

No.
I already decided that I am not getting anymore MS consoles but if it requires constant online you couldn't give me one if you tryed it would get traded in for a ps4/wii-u.
I done decided that there is a good chance I'm heading to Wii-u because I am tired of Ps/Xbox having the same type of games and nothing new to the mix. everytime I turn around its ether a shooter coming out or a shooter coming out.......
With nintendo I get more platforming and avenger games and some party games.
Not trying to Game vs Game or anything like that but it has gotten to the point where there is really no difference in what comes out for Playstation and xbox.
At some point I will be on ps4 but good chance my next gen choice over all is Wii-u and I'm avoiding MS like the plague.
kinda off topic: I do like how sony is wanting to do more with inde games and free to play games so I am interested in the ps4.

Go ask the people with awsome internet connection how they felt about Sim City and Diablo 3 when they bought it, give you a hint the probably hated their launch.
No I will not buy the new XBOX and the always online is the big reason why. I have a good internet connection and I won't buy it because I don't want my system to be useless if my internet is down or the xbox live log in servers go down. Not spending 300-400 bucks for a system that I can't use anytime I want.

No.
Well, people said I live under a rock, does that count?
I live in SoCal Suburb, that 'should' have stable internet, but guess what. IT EXPLODE! I sometimes have to tether my phone (which despite having better bandwidth, the latency sucks at points).
Nothing about Always Online helps.
DRM does nothing but screw the consumers and the pirates will always find a way. Pirates found a way within the 1st month to emulate a Blizzard server on your computer to play Diablo 3 offline, no doubt at some point when Nextbox gets rooted and people found out how to disable it, there would still return to their normal daily pirate task, or whatever it is they do.
Extra funding for a company doesn't do anything. If the developers are incompetent, they're going to still be incompetent. Extra funding doesn't do anything.
That and I dislike Microsoft's business practice and don't even touch 360 much. Last I touched it was the gigantic disappointment of Halo 4. Only thing satisfying was killing my brother in co-op.
Absolutely not. I probably won't buy one anyway but something like this requirement would seal it.
I just can't agree with this statement. What makes it better then, oh say a computer? The original way to play online with hundreds of others. Most people buy a RPG game for the story and single player aspects. Why would they want to be online just to be able to play their single player focused game? To me, the only reasons an xbox multiplayer playform would out perform a computer is if its a game that is not accessible for a computer / not designed with a computer in mind.

Does that mean that even the RPG games will require some sort of a server begin set up by the company itself for people to access? Like MMo's do
I really enjoyed my Xbox360, but if this is seriously a thing, I'm going back to sony. That is, if I even buy another console, my PC is going pretty great right now. I mean I live on the east coast of Australia, for one month or so a year we get raped by cyclones during which I typically lose internet, but not power, for up to a month.
so fak dat shet
Whats the point of buying it? Good Xbox exclusive games are rare anyway. The way Adam Orth handled the situation doesn't make me want to support the console anymore. It just seems like it would be an utter waste of money at this point. PS4, here I come.
Hahaha. Just saw this thread and voted and was shocked to see how many people are saying no to the Xbox. I mean I knew this was going to be detrimental to their sales but, geez I was expecting more fans supporting the new Xbox. Guess it just shows how bad a move online only is.
No and it would be a completely asinine thing to do if Microsoft does follow through with it. I know for a fact there are thousands of people that live in remote places where internet is impossible or too costly to afford.
I have some family who live in Kodiak, Alaska and the only internet provider is total crap and ridiculously expensive if you want more than 10 gigs of bandwidth a month.
Pretty much this actually. People don't like to be deliberately taken for suckers. I mean, we're all suckers for something but I think they'll find if they're so open about acting high and mighty over us they'll be turning away a huge crowd just based on the attitude alone.
It's nice that there are online options for consoles. But it shouldn't be a mandatory thing. If it is I really might as well stick to my PC. No xbox exclusive title in the world could make me willing to take that bullshit. And if they think online only will help "sales" and game development, they're in for a nasty surprise in a few years. Hackers will still find a way, and they're just turning off the normal customer group. Look at the number of people against it just in this small thread alone.
exactly. you should be groveling before microsofts shoes and thank them for even bothering to release a new console. why they could have decided not to release a console to us unwashed plebians at all and forced us to play on a toaster.
if this rumor is true im going with the ps4.
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
I do love Xbox and have owned one for at least 9 years now (both standard and 360) but if they are gonna charge money to play online I'm swapping over to PS4. Because for me, the fee that come with Xbox Live is complete bullshit and it shouldn't be there.
It takes a really good game for me to put up with those latency issues. They damage the gameplay experience horribly, and I specifically avoid games where I have to deal with it.
You can have minor graphical bugs, misspellings, or even fairly frequent crashes, they're not as bad as something as constantly in your face as latency.
I still play minecraft, because it's just that good, but when they made the swap from purely offline singleplayer to online, I could feel everything plummet. Monsters suddenly being able to attack a second before you can, getting stuck in walls, teleporting, a little of everything permeating every inch of the gameplay.

besides the always online requirement there's also the rumor of unable to play borrowed games. that would be a huge no no for kids.
