    Grammar Nazi help needed.

    I've written a book before

    I've wrote a book before

    I wrote a book before

Its been a while since I've written/wrote any poetry.

I assume all are considered correct but I want a second opinion.

1 and 3 should be correct. 2 doesn't look like any form of valid grammatical tense.

But maybe I miss something. I'm no native English speaker.

    I concur with your assessment.

Conjunctions are bad. I have written a book before.

    1 and 3.

    Second isn't correct.

2 sounds rather strange, but I don't know everything

    Seconding this motion.

"I wrote" and "I have written" (similarly, "I've written") are valid. "I have wrote" doesn't match tenses

Seems correct for me aswell. Though I have a dire hate to all "Grammar Nazi"s

I'll bite. I'm not an authority, but I can recognize poor grammar / word usage.

    Not good.
    I wrote a book before
    Proper: Simple past tense.
Its been a while since I've written/wrote any poetry.
"It has been a while since I have written any poetry", which could be contracted to "It's been a while since I've written any poetry". Use contractions with care as they change the tempo of writing and affect the mood as well. This is not to say that you should avoid contractions - especially in writing dialog (inner or otherwise) as most people do speak in contractions at least from time to time, and when they're eliminated it gives a speaker a very precise apparance.

I assume all are considered correct but I want a second opinion.
    Good luck!
Here's a nice table I quickly found on the 'net: http://www.ego4u.com/en/cram-up/grammar/tenses

Edit: Someone mentioned conjunctions; pretty sure they're talking about contractions. Conjunctions are words like "and", "but", "or", "although", "because", etc. As with everything else in the language, you try to use it properly; don't overuse anything, but don't avoid - it's all about what you're writing and what's needed for your piece.

Generally best to try to avoid both for the most part, conjunctions especially. Though it is as you say: Depending on what you're writing, contractions are fine in moderation.

I personally dislike conjunctions greatly; filler words is what they tend to be.

Yes contractions. My apologies. I personally hate them.

As others have said, 2nd one doesn't make sense grammatically. 1st and 3rd are correct.

Only written is correct here for reasons explained above. Also you used the past particple of "to be" i.e. "been" so you would need to use "has".

I assume all are considered correct but I want a second opinion.
    1. This is correct, it is a perfect present since you have the auxiliary verb have and the past particple of "write".
    2. This is not correct. You can't use "have" as an auxiliary verb without the past particple, i.e. perfect present/past.
    3. This is correct too. It's a simple past.
    4. Only written is correct here for reasons explained above. Also you used the past particple of "to be" i.e. "been" so you would need to use "has".

Actually, could a native English speaker give his/her view on the use of "before" in the third sentence, I think it sounds a bit with that circumstantial being used in the past tense...

First and third sentence are both correct, second should be "I've written a book before."

    Correct:

    I've written a book before
    I wrote a book before
It's been a while since I've written any poetry
It's been a while since I wrote any poetry

    Incorrect:

    I've wrote a book before
    I written a book before
It's been a while since I written any poetry
It's been a while since I've wrote any poetry
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
