My own tracker shows I gain lesser charms around 1 in 8 battles(13.2%), so in 20 battles, there is a 6% chance or so that you won't get any charms. Not an insignificant percentage considering.
Just spent over an hour leveling pets and got 3 lesser coins... I used to do pet battles for lesser coins but not anymore takes too long now.
