Thinking of getting a newer pc but could use some opinions

Hey guys, been looking at getting a newer pc but haven't got the first clue if i'm brutally honest, usually i'd just go for the cheapest/as upto date as i could afford, while trying to aim at either quad core of some kind with Nvidia graphics.

The pc i'm looking to get next though is differently spec'd:

    Processor Intel® Core™ i5-650 Processor
    - 3.2 GHz
    - 2.5 GT/s FSB
    - 4 MB Smart Cache
Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    RAM - 4 GB
Graphics card ATI Radeon™ HD5570 graphics processor
    Screen type None
Hard drive 1TB 7200 rpm SATA
    Optical disk drive DVD-RW
    Memory card reader Yes
    USB 4 x front, 6 x rear
    FireWire 1
    Modem/Ethernet 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet
    WiFi Yes - 802.11 b/g/n
    Bluetooth No
    Video interface HDMI, DVI
    Audio interface 3.5mm, SPDIF, Optical
    TV output HDMI
    Expansion card slot 2x PCI-Ex1, 1x PCI-E x16
    Sound Onboard 7.1

Anyone got any idea on what kind of performance i would get form a setup like this when playing WoW?
Don't really got much of a budget, would be looking at spending no more then £500 total, only after a tower as i got keyboards, monitors etc.

Can you build it, or know someone who can? You can usually get a much better deal if its custom built over prebuilt. That's a fairly tight budget as is. You'd need to get a newer graphics card pretty much at the get go. The hardware is 3 years old as it is.

    Where are you located?

Yeah, it's differently spec'd alright... Dualcore processor and not Nvidia graphics, both of which are three years old at this point so not really up to date either.

Pretty bad. You can probably play at low settings just fine, but medium won't happen in any group content. Biggest problem is the graphics card which is meant for facebook/porn/minesweeper, not for any kind of 3D games.

Your CPU is fine for now. Wait for Haswell. Get a new GPU and some more RAM if you can afford it though, it is your biggest, if not only, real bottleneck. Ask me how I know? Just re-built some old rig for a friend with exactly that CPU, slapped a 6950 on it and it runs WoW on ultra just fine. (40-50 fps in pandaria, 35ish fps during lfr)

List in first post is not what the OP has now, but what he's buying (I think). Definitely need verification for this before going any further.

lol, assumed that three year old build was what he had atm. I wouldn't buy that today unless it was ridiculously cheap. Talking maximum 250$ cheap. Even that would be stretching it.

Yeah that was what i was looking to buy but if i can find better for between £500-£550 - and yeah i know, seriously tight budget, as it is, i'd probably be asking me dad to get it upfront and me pay him back after.

The list tenangrychickens wrote in post #4 is significantly better. It just needs you or somebody else to assemble the parts.

id change the HDD to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digi...5893563&sr=1-9, which is £43.57 from tenangrychickens list and get a http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...roductId=54944 gpu instead at £148.74, unsure if aria charge delivery for just standard delivery, prob see a better performance boost, though keeping the rest the same

Nice, shouldn't be too much of an issue finding someone locally who could do the build for me, plenty peeps I play WoW with are local hehe.
If Tenangrychickens build is only £515, i shouldn't see it being too much of an issue.
    Cheers for the help peeps

    Thorianrage:

I don't got a great budget size so changing the £43,57 for something £148.74 wouldn't be an option sadly

emi, youve misunderstood me, on tenangrychickens list, change the HDD on there to the one i linked to, and also change the GPU he suggested to the one i suggested, its roughly around the same price in total and you get a bit better gpu out of it

Well, Emi said £500-550, so why not keep my HDD and upgrade to your suggested GPU? That still comes to under £525.

This is going to be your best bet for $500. $515 should be doable. You could always drop the optical drive and the hard drive, and just get another stick of ram (8gb if you have 64 bit windows is nice).
