It's weird to say this, but because this is a marathon the amount of trained medical personnel is high, so it could have been worse :-/ I am sure there would have been many more deaths otherwise.

Reported injuries also seem mostly linked to the blast wave and fragments of items at the parade site. No reports of deliberate shrapnel, yet. That doesn't mean it can't be intentional, though.

There have been unconfirmed reports of ball bearings at the scene, implying intentional shrapnel loads.

there's something to be said for that. that aspect reminds me of an accident a few years back. a boat went out of control and ran over a cousin and fucked her up bad. the only reason she lived was that the party was almost entirely emergency personnel

At a race being dedicated in honor of the victims of the school shooting in Newtown. The same day congress is debating to pass gun legislation which happen to occur on the day for filing your taxes as well. The very likely prime suspect can be found among the freedom loving extreme right wingers that care so much about your safety that they have no problems setting of bombs in public. Check Oklahoma city bombing if you forgot that and got outraged for calling attention to a very likely prime suspect.
