    Sell years for money.

A man makes you this deal: He will give you 5.000.000 $ if you give him 10 years of your life. From those 10 years you can still sell 1 year per 500.000 $. He doesnt now when you are going to die nither you do. He only nows 100% that those years you give him will make him live longer, healthier and younger.

    What would you do?

He will only agree to buy 10 or more years.

I'd probably sell him a year. That'd be like 9 less years of work I'd have to do to get that much money. I could buy a house and the rest of my working life would be a million times easier.

Quick question, does this mean 10 year off my natural live span. ie if I was going to die in 50 years of natural causes it would now be 40 or does it just mean a flat 10 years off when I was gong to die, in other words if I was to die in a car crash in 11 years I would instead die in 1 years time?

    For fiif question:

10 years of you natural live span. If you die from a car accident he will still have those years.

I'd sell him the 10 years and deal with it. I'm sure I wasn't gonna live past 80 or so anyway

I would maybe be willing to sell something like 2 year for 1.000.000 to make my youthful years filled with happy financially free caring moments, traveling and all that. In most cases it wasn't the last two years of peoples lives in the retirement home that they think to be their best.

But 10 years as the minimum buy-in screw that :P

So the question is; Do you want a little shorter life where you are free and able to do almost anything you can do on the world? or would you rather live longer without those chances?

I'd probably risk it, thinking that I'll die old and so take the offer. That way I won't get to live the last years of my life when I can't even handle myself up and live the best life I could with that money, always with a cold head, because money = freedom.

If I were younger, maybe. I am 46 now and my dads side of the family for the last few generations has only lived til 65 or so. 10 years is a long time when you might only have 20 to live.

Going by relatives who died of old age I will live to around ~95-100. I could afford to sell 10 years but I mean... it's just money. I'm probably not going to get a huge loving family who'll miss me but, who knows? Maybe we'll be able to become 200 years and feel/look younger when I'm 80 and then I'm capped at 90? That'd suck.

I would most definitely do at least 10 years.

You guys are seriously screwing yourselves up agreeing to this. What if you were only due to live another 10 years? You would snuff it right there before spending a single penny of your new wealth. You have no idea how long you have left, better not to gamble I say.

Edit: reminds me of deathnote and the shinigami eyes, we all know how badly that turned out.

I'd sell a couple years. Pay off what's left of my mortgage and live a life of leisure. With all the extra time I'd have I'd probably live healthier then I would have if I din't sell the years. So I'll recoup those sold years.

Will I die 10 years earlier or do I age 10 years instantly?

My opinion exactly. Money can't buy happiness but it can buy beer, which is pretty much the same thing.

Also, this reminded me of another hypothetical situation. I think they even made a movie from this question.

I voted I would sell 10 years. However, I would ONLY sell them if they came off of the end of my life, so instead of living to 90 I'd only live to 80. I would then quit my job and use the money I got to live and enjoy the years I do have with my friends and family. Women in my family tend to live long (Great grandmother 99, grandmother on dads side 89 and grandmother on moms side 93.) so I have no issue taking off 10 years to make my life better overall.

Does this affect the afterlife? For example if hypothetically christianity is real would selling these years count as suicide and send me to purgatory? If not I would sell 10 years.

I smoke.. So I'll have to say no, the 10 years I would spend would most likely already be spent..
If I didn't smoke, I'dd take the offer.
