Question So whats up with my Neighbour's cat?

So ive been looking after my neighbours cat for the last few weeks, since she went on a holiday.

Now ive been cleaning the messes up, feeding, changing litter, and giving it plenty of attention.

For the last 2 days hes been a bit fisty and i have no idea why, so i took my ipod with me to record its behaviour so i could gets some advice on it.

So anyone have a clue or guess whats up with him at all?

That's one angry kitty! Has she been outside recently? Maybe something scared her..(or she could be sick / in pain, possibly) i'm not too sure.

Maybe he's not good around strangers? I'd also suggest not following an animal into a small space like that lol

Well, while he may not be happy, pointing a camera in his face, with a bright light and screaming (I know you're not screaming) at him really isn't going to make him trust you.

He clearly just isn't comfortable being locked in a place he doesn't like. Just continue to be nice, feed and clean up after him. He'll be fine.

Also; "SHIT! .... You've gone feral buddy!" That made me laugh so much

Has he been without owners before? Maybe just that they've been gone for a few weeks might be a reason.

Best to leave him alone would be my guess. If he wants attention from you he will find you.

Leave him alone is my best advice. Let him 'take the first step' so to speak.

Cats sometimes like to have a hiding place, where nobody can reach them. Even the friendliest cats wants this, and if you encroach on their space they'll feel that this is not a good hiding place.

So make sure the cat has some hiding places where the cats knows it'll be safe from any peeping toms.

As long as he's still eating, I wouldn't worry too much. Probably got spooked by something completely ridiculous and is just getting all defensive. Is he neutered?

Cats are pretty independent, if you're getting in their shit while they're trying to be alone or hiding, or they developed some irrational fear of a piece of furniture, they'll just become little shits until they sort out their problem.

Is it a girl or a boy? Maybe at some point you interupted his fapping session.

This is something you should keep in mind. I've had my cat for around 3 - 4 years now, and even he still loves a place to get away from me, somewhere I can't reach or see him. Just let him find his own alone place, and never go near it.

If he wants some loving, he'll come to you.

Never stick your hand near an animal that is warning you with growling, etc. You need to give the kitty some space at that point. It's possible the kitty isn't handling being away from its owner very well, or it could be sick/in pain. Make sure it's eating well, drinking, and pottying. Other than that, give the kitty its space, talk to it in soothing tones, and let him come to you, not the other way around.

It's time to call the exorcist, isn't it? It just want to be left alone, probably........... or it's been possessed by demons.

Whatever it is, the cat clearly feels threatened and wants you to leave it alone.

Also be sure to clean those wounds properly if you haven't. Animal claws are generally quite filthy so unless you clean the wounds you might get a nasty surprise.

Show it the cross and if she starts walking on the ceiling i suppose an exorcism is in order.

Calico cats have a cranky attitude anyway. It's spooked and you invading it's space is seriously pissing it off, leave him/her be and he'll/she'll calm down i wouldn't invade the space again unless you like having cat's claws embedded in you.

why in the hell would you put your hand in by a creature growling like that?!? sorry, but you deserved that. it being "feral" is so unlikely as to be all but impossible. far more likely that it is either ill or scared. or it's just mad that its person isnt there
