    Upgrading my old system

I know that i should just throw my PC out of the window instead of trying to change some parts, but since at the moment i can't afford to get a new one, i'd really appreciate any help in pointing some cheap stuff i could get in order to improve a bit my gaming experience. I'm mostly playing WoW and as time passes by, my PC will probably prevent me from doing that. With the system i have now, i'm getting max 10 FPS in 10man raiding enviroment (1680x1050 resolution) while having everything on low/disabled and it's the following:

    MB: MSI K9N Ulrta
    CPU: ATHLON 3500
    RAM: 2GB 800Mhz
    GPU: NVIDIA 7600 GT
PSU: 400 Watt (a no name i think, since my previous one "died" a few months ago)

I wanted to replace my CPU, but i couldn't find any (AM2 socket), which means i need to replace my MB as well and that changes everything. So, since i've stopped following hardware's evolution for quite a while, i'd appreciate some info. Spending around 50+ euro (max 70) per part and hopefully keeping PSU, DDR2 RAM (?), will that give me a steady gameplay with some effects on fair-medium and not that screenshot one i have from time to time?

    Thank you for your time.

I would... save up money. Any part you want to replace for that little, without replacing several other parts, is just going to end up getting replaced again.

An overall budget instead of a per part budget would help us give recommendations better. However, you are pretty much looking at needing everything, so $800 minimum more than likely is what you are looking at. and I do mean bare minimum.

Yeah i know that it'd be better to get a whole new one, but since i can't do that any time soon, i was thinking if by changing M/B, CPU and GPU i could smooth my gameplay. There's no way in spending 150 euro or bit more for those parts and getting double or more the FPS i have now? Again, i'm not expecting to play on ultra with 100 FPS. Something stable with some effects on fair/good.

Is there any place you can order from? Perhaps amazon.fr amazon.co.uk?

When I try to order from amazon it says free delivery when selecting the 7-10 days delivery option, I'll try to make a build then.

Hmm, probably that's a no. But if you have some options about hardware i'm gonna check the possibility of getting them from here, otherwise i'll see what i can do about amazon.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    Memory: Kingston 2GB (1 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€12.40 @ Amazon France)
    Memory: Kingston 2GB (1 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€12.40 @ Amazon France)
    Total: €136.63

Try and see what it says when you order them from amazon, It showed free delivery when I tried to order the cpu.

If you can afford it and delivery is free or cheap then perhaps switch the G2020 with the G870 which is on par with the FX8350 in WoW.

Oh wow, thanks a lot. It seems to be free as well. And what about the GPU? Any change on that?

Eeh.. I hiiighly doubt that. The FX 8350 does much better than the G870, but is also a fair bit more expensive. If looking at the 8350 price range, people usually go for an i3. If you can afford those, I'd not get a G870.

I was looking at this benchmark : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/62
According to the benchmark between the G840 and G850 the difference is 2 fps at 100 MHz extra on the core. Meaning the G870 should have around 96 average fps.

That depends, how much budget do you got for the GPU?

I've honestly found those comparisons to be highly inaccurate. It also shows a Core 2 Duo being right up there with an 8350 as well. Which.. just.. no. I think the 'fraps runthroughs' are skewed in a way, shoving everything closer together than they really are.

It's the only benchmark i could find that compared them. :/ If he can squeze money for a 3220 then that would be a huge upgrade for him. I'm afraid that ancient gpu will bottleneck him though.

Well something that won't bring the total budget above 200 euro. Most likely i'll get the gpu a bit after the rest, so with the "awesome" one i got at the moment and upgrading the rest with what you mentioned, any idea where i'll be fps wise?

I know that AMD has better value/performance ratio or at least used to, but your build already puts me above the budget.
Not to mention that i'll need a new M/B because mine is a AM2 one :/
