Uhh its going to be difficult to think outside the box to say something other than "Forest". If water is to a river, then tree is to a forest... thats all there could possibly be man lol, what else do you want us to do?

    Want outside the box?

"Water" is to "River" as "Tree" is to "Ice Cream"

There you go, there is some creativity for ya.

    Fluttershy.

That's about as outside the box as you're going to find.

I'm concerned that this is a "personal project" rather than some school assignment. If you have time to come up with projects like this for yourself then you're probably going to be more "outside the box" than I am.

But since no one said it yet. I'm gonna go ahead and say global warming.

Reasoning: A river is water in motion. The only natural force that could move a forest from one location to another would be a drastic climate change that would cause trees in one area to suddenly be unable to grow and instead grow more naturally someplace else.

There I've met my "think harder than you want to" quota for the day, time to go play some League of Legends as Jungle Maokai
Naftc, "Hunters are the cheapest class in game and when played right are more deadly than a train plowing through a field of bunnies covered in napalm"

Water is to river as tree is to life.

"Water" is to "River" as "Tree" is to "Forest" is the obvious correct choice

Call me uncreative, but the first thing that popped into my head was forest. :P Makes sense logically since rivers are composed of a lot of water coming together.

    I'm gonna stick with forest.
Thinking "outside the box", has gotten a lot of great people shot in the head.

    my first thought was forest.

water flows through a river, in and out, forming it. The question is, what do trees flow in and out of, and, in the end, form? Fire maybe? Or, perhaps a structure of sorts like a building or a deck?

Those are just a few of the ideas I thought of. Personally, I like them, and the reasoning is sound.

I would say water is to river as tree is to copse (a small formation of trees). Tree is to forest...would imply more of a lake than a river. But that's just me.

It's a IQ test style question.

    The Answer is Wood.

A river is made of water. And you get water from a river.

A Tree is made of Wood. And you get Wood from a tree.
