Third faction as the Forsaken.
Races are : current races as forsaken (undead human, undead orcs, undead taurens, etc.)
You became a forsaken a level XX if you choose to.
Victory to the Alliance !
Oh I completely agree with this, just look at the past history with the warcraft RTS game, it laid the foundation for an MMO by creating lore, introducing the movers and shakers among the npc characters and created over arching villains out to destroy all life for us to work against (Burning Legion, Old Gods).
Now look at Star Craft 2, between Terrans and Zerg we have more lore, introduced to the movers and shakers among the NPCs and created over arching villains out to destroy all life (Amon and the other Old God like bad guys).
Also if note in the last Zerg game was the focus upon the Zerg moving from a hive mind to being free willed, the hive mind was a corruption of the proto-zerg to help the old god like beings destroy all life in the universe. The hive queens were being genetically upgraded to think for themselves and to have vision to make them more deadly (not vision as in sight).
This is all paving the way for a 3 faction Starcraft MMO where players can play zerg characters and not be mindless hivemind servants.
Creating an MMO wont hurt the esport, the esport will still continue because it has its own niche that is popular and keeps the bucks rolling in, but that does not exclude the creation of an MMO based on the same intellectual property.
Frozen Throne did seem to be setting up WoW in a lot of ways. Setting up a faction of undead to be playable, establishing Durotar and Theramore, etc. I'm not quite sure about SC though. There are some things in HotS that could be interpreted this way. Introducing some zerg characters with free will, putting Valerian in charge of the Dominion as a potential non evil faction leader, redeeming Kerrigan to a large extent, and splintering the protoss people a bit into other factions. But I'm not entirely convinced this is what they're doing. For one thing, the only villain they've set up is Amon, who I suspect will be destroyed in Legacy of the Void. We'll have to wait and see how they do the story in the final chapter.
No it wouldn't make sense gameplay wise and is an overall stupid idea. They will never do that. That would basically give you free characters of every class that are already ahead in levels. They won't let you to skip leveling that many characters. It would also cause imbalance because when that whole faction can hit max level so easily, everyone would roll it.
Yeah. Having one class start at lvl 55 is completely different from allowing an entire THIRD FACTION to do so. I don't think people asking for a third faction realize just how much blizz would have to overhaul to make it work. You want three factions, wait for Elder Scrolls Online.
So I got this idea. How about instead of two or three factions, we have one.
We have faced trials and danger, threats to our world and our way of life. And yet, we persevere. We are the Horde. We will not let anything break our spirits!"
Yeah, free-for-all would mostly mean double the ganking. It's unfortunate that in this game reputation is nothing more than green bars unlocking items for grind. If it could truly track player's behavior and mark his actual reputation (helpful, explorer, raider, duelist, murderer), that would've been great. Or imagine forced unchangeable titles, like "Marauder (ninja-looter)". That could actually nullify a certain percent of douchebaggery.
