Abercrombe & Fitch vs. fat people

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...e-8608022.html

How do you guys feel about this? I think it's good that the company isn't influenced by the media to appeal towards all types of people. If they want to cater towards skinny/fit people, that should be their choice. How the CEO said it though seemed kind of stupid.

I hope those quotes are unfounded (or whatever word I would use here for "not real"), because that's completely incompetent. There's a difference between not having certain sizes, and just outright saying "fuck fat people". Other stores don't have certain larger sizes, but they don't go out and call everyone ugly.

Eatable clothes... Make them small for skinny people and delicious for fat people... Everyone wins!

obviously the cases involving all white staff, forced to do push ups/squats, and shoving someone with only 1 arm in the stock room is completely wrong and quite disgusting.

but if someone doesn't want to sell large clothes to fat people, that is completely their choice and as it obviously says probably a bad business move as 2/5ths of the US is fat people, but it's totally upto that company nothing requires them to give choice.

Hollister went through the same backlash.

They'll stop alienating potential customers when they realise it doesnt get them anywhere.

What he said sounded rather idiotic, but they definitely shouldn't have to be confined to any "norms". Come on, it's clothing.

Fat people eating themselves nude and even more fat? Thats just making the problem worse.

The only problem with this is the wording, if you don't want to cater to obese that is your company don't insult them by saying only thin is beautiful, which it is far from if the person body doesn't support it.

Yep thats there choice people get offended to easily anymore.

At least then you wouldn't complain about seeing people naked. Who the hell cares if someone is fat or nude?

Considering A&F's CEO, himself, is far too ugly to work in his own stores... I'd say he's kind of a hypocrite and an asshole.

i didn't read the article but I don't see the problem in only having small sizes at all. Why would a company be forced to sell clothes for everyone Oo? It's a private company after all they sell whatever the fuck they want. If they want to sell only large, only small, only women, only men, only children, only tall or short clothes is their choice what the hell. There is a big difference in outright alienating certain people and selling different sizes of clothes.

Now if he outright alienates, insults, etc certain people based on their appearance then yea there is something to be said here. A CEO from a big company like that has a voice with quite a bit more impact than a regular guy and should understand that he cannot say whatever he wants without expecting repercussions.

A part of me feels that if society accepted this with open arms we'd have a lot fewer fat people running around.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore

The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.

    ...............I agree with this decision.

As much as I may disagree with the article, it IS his business. If he wants to run it into the ground, he is free to do so.

It's a privately owned clothing store they can sell whatever they want. I don't see a problem with what they are doing.

The CEO is 68 years old btw. His face may be a bit meh, but he looks amazing for a 68 year old otherwise.
