Created Equal - photographer shows how different people in America are

Check the site for some pictures, it's interesting to see how different people can end up due to many factors such as education, living style etc. Thought it was interesting to see.
    http://www.boredpanda.com/created-equal-mark-laita/

"Detroit-born photographer Mark Laita questions what it is in life that puts people, who were born equal, to follow completely different paths. His album Created Equal is a a study of social and cultural clashes, as well as the influence of different background, schooling and upbringing. All diptychs in the book compare two people, who have some kind of a connection that ends up being the biggest contrast between them: for example, out-laws are put next to policemen, school drop-outs next to college graduates, and Amish teens are paired with punk teenagers.

Created Equal, Mark’s first non-commercial work, took him 8 years to complete and was published in 2010. “I photograph what I love about my country, which is the American. By that I mean the individual who is shaped from more than 200 years of liberty and independence mixed with all the successes and failures that America has experienced in its short life. So here is a collection of these creatures. Tragic and wonderful, great and ordinary, they stand proud and ready for scrutiny,” says Mark. Discover what “the American” is to this photographer!"

    Edit: Thank you Shamanic!

Also, this is why I shared the link and about what I got of those pictures as well:

No I will not "like" the face book link you provided.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

The link is long because it looks like it's through a facebook referral click link, this is the actual link without the extra fluff

Looks just like a list of stereotypes, like the fat cowboy real estate developer.

Nothing particularly original to see there.

I'm not sure what message the author was trying to send?

I don't get it, just two people side by side comparing and contrasting them?

This has nothing to do with two people, born at the same time in the same circumstances and their resulting outcome.

i don't really see the relevance between the pictures.

This is the kind of art I simply don't get.

Yeah, that's what makes this 'art' even more confusing.

The people in those pictures weren't even "created equal" in as equal a sense as you can get (same age, same family life, same starting wealth, etc), which makes the title even more idiotic.

Not to mention how it seems many of them got to where they are of their own volition, such as "high school dropout."

I think it's more in the sense that they were created equal, as in, they were all born in the US. I felt that the author tried to show that not everyone has the same chances even if they're all born in same country, and the title is especially put like that to contrast with the pictures. I could be wrong, but that's what I felt and that's why I wanted to share and discuss.
