I actually find I suddenly started having huge problems with one of AVG's most recent updates in a similar fashion. I originally thought it was a Windows update, because I updated both on the same day. The symptoms:

Any pages with Javascript or Flash on them had random code splattered across the screen and refused to show their contents, pictures appeared as though they'd broken mid download (multi-coloured stripes or pixels making up the remainder of the image) and so on and so forth. Also streamed video content of any sort caused Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome to crash, all the above symptoms were the same across all 3 browsers.

I've no idea what they changed in AVG, but it seems to be scrambling any and all code received. Removing AVG fixed the problem, not really sure if this is related to the OP or not, but it may be worth looking into.

A computer is only as smart as the person who runs it, as is all machines. All it takes it common sense to know what is good and bad for your computer.

AV isn't to useful if you don't take care of your computer as it is, I find most problems occur between the keyboard and chair :P Even at work some people will say "I have x AV installed how could I get a virus etc.?" Well then I pull up their browsing history of porn most of the time and explain to them that clicking on stupid ads isn't a good idea. Also had some lady come in last week with that FBI virus and she actually paid the $300...... my response was -_-.

I applied the windows updates this morning and everything seems ok. WoW didn't crash when I started it, neither did D3.

So you dont have SP 1 or the platform update installed that fixed all the bugs in Win 7 when it launched either?
