[Need Help] Laptop won't connect to internet properly :'(

    Hey smart internet people,

I bought a new laptop yesterday (an Acer Aspire v5 571) and it wont connect to our network on it's own.
All computers in our house use a USB adapter to connect, but I assumed a laptop should be able to own its own accord.
There's a Qualcomm Atheros AR5BW222 Wireless Network Adapter in the laptop, but when I try to connect it says it can't.

With the Wireless NEtwork USB Adapter 54g WL-608, everything works fine.
I read something about drivers but I have no idea what those are >.>

Any help would be immensly appreciated, 'cuz having a USB poking out the side of the laptop isn't very pleasant.

    Kind Regards,

    Tsutey

Search for the correct drivers on the atheros website.
A driver is the software behind a piece of hardware.
That means that the atheros chip [hardware] cannot perform with the correct drivers [software].
In essence, the software 'drives' the hardware.

Or you could run Windows Update with the USB Adapter instead.
If it's truly a new laptop, you could try going back to the store and ask them if it doesn't work.

Also, wrong section, post in the computer section next time.

EDIT: Alternatively you could download the driver from the acer website.

Hey again, thanks for your reply
I installed the driver (well, the windows 8 version I found on the acer site, I should've mentioned I use windows 8), but it still doesn't work.

I should mention that our Network is secured with a MAC filter. I allowed a total of 3 mac adresses (one of which I found using the ipconfig -all cmd prompt, the other 2 were on the box).

Any aditional thoughts would be greatly appreciated

OKay, well turns out I'm just dumb...missed a MAC adress >.> WOrks now
