So this is what i approximately wanna buy....

Hey peeps, so it's time for a new desktop so this is my info :

    Budget : about 800 euro's
Games : WoW and ocassionally a new shooter, so it needs some punch for the new shooters, i dont expect high settings , but it should run without probs on normal.
Other stuff : Sound design and music production, mostly cinema, so heavy read load on the HDD, write is trivial
    Country : Netherlands
    Reusable parts : PSU (600W 24pins)
    OS : no
    Peripherals : no

I got external 19' Audio devices and some other racked synths, compressors and FX's so the sounddepartments is fine.
I considered Mac, but it limits my options next to sound design and production and I still think Apple is way overprized in relation to their specs, so thats a no-go.
Other then that I'm totally careless towards eyecandy on cases and whatsoever. The desktop will be build in my studiodesk and never be looked up again.

So i came up with this and i'd like to have some feedback on it, where i should change, i don't want to pass the 850 Euro's.

    GFX :ASUS HD7770-2GD5 159 euros
CASE :Thermaltake Versa G2 (cheapest i could find) 54 euros
FAN : Aerocool Shark Fan 12cm Black Edition (3x) 10 euros

    HDD's :
    Mushkin MKNSSDCR240GB-DX7 172 euros
    Seagate ST2000DM001 2 TB 82 euros

    CPU/MOBO/MEM : ALTERNATE Upgrade Kit GigaByte GA-B75M-D3V / i5-3470 / 8GB 279 euros
    Mogo :Gigabyte GAB75M-DV3
    CPU : I5-3470
    Ram : 8 GB (2x 4 GB DDR3-1333 CL9 9-9-24)

    OPTS : Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE 16 euros

My doubts are currently on the upgradeset, the mobo seems pretty limited, although the combination of mobo/cpu/memory for only 279 euros seemed a good deal to me.

Voice it out and thanks in advance!

This is lot faster graphics card for about 10€ more if you want to get better performance for the occasional shooters
    http://www.alternate.nl/GIGABYTE/GIG...oduct/1074486/

You probably don't need the extra case fans for anything unless you're gonna pack the computer into some warm corner with nonexisting airflow. What you might want to look instead for is slightly more expensive case that comes noise dampened so that it doesn't bother with your sound work. Something like http://www.alternate.nl/Fractal_Desi...oduct/1010807/ (also white option available at same price)

If you don't want to overclock, that motherboard+cpu bundle is pretty good choice.

Your GPU is overpriced and not that good for gaming.
650 Ti Boost will run most games decently.

    SSD
    Change to the 840 Samsung.

Thats some sound advice there, tyvm.
Im not much into GFX cards atm so ill take your advice for granted.
The case however will be build into possible warm corner, although i like the idea with the casing, its definately worth considering and still get the extra fans.

Same pointer as Vesse when it comes to the GPU, for me a confirmation that he's talking sense! Awesome, thx.
And funny, i actually had the samsung configged before, but swapped it for the mushkin, not sure why tbh.

Bottomline so far, ill look into the GFX card. I just always had ATI's and have been very fond of them, probably the reason i didnt even look into Nvid, but im definately going to considerate the 650 TI boost.
SSD will be swapped back to Samsung.

More advice is welcome, thanks so far lads!

edit : I did some comparison between the 7770 and the 650 TI and the difference seems neglectible besides that the 7770 scales better in Xfire than the 650 would do in SLI, but my mobo only has one PCIe anyways so thats a non issue, the 650 as standalone is slightly more powerfull tho.
One thing that does intrest me are the soundlvls, my current ATI makes a lot of noise... can someone say something about the Dblevels between the 2 mentioned cards?

The 650 Ti Boost is about 50% faster. That... hardly seems 'negligible'.
    Gaming: Dual Intel Pentium III Coppermine @ 1400mhz + Blue Orb | Asus CUV266-D | GeForce 2 Ti + ZF700-Cu | 1024mb Crucial PC-133 | Whistler Build 2267

Don't look at 650ti, but 650ti BOOST which are two totally different things. 650ti BOOST will run games 50-100% faster than 7770.

SLI/Crossfire with low end cards is very bad idea.

It depends on what kind of fan you have on the card, not specifically on the GPU chip running it. Zotac card is quieter than the Gigabyte.

I came up with this list:

    Intel Core i5 3350P Boxed € 147,90
    ASRock B75 Pro3-M € 56,90
    Sapphire 7950 boost € 269,-
    Western Digital Blue Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB € 56,45
    Corsair Carbide 200R € 49,99
    Gelid Solutions Tranquillo Rev.2 € 25,-
    Crucial Ballistix BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU € 46,49
    be quiet! Pure Power L7 530W € 53,75
    Samsung 840 series SSD 120GB € 80,75

This will cost you about 802 euros at Alternate. Which suprised seeing as they tend to be a bit more expensive than other shops.

The cpu is only 100 MHz slower, which you probably wont notice at all. The GPU will beat the crap out of the 7790/650 ti BOOST tho

    edit:

I see you have a PSU already. If that is good enough you can skip the psu and invest that money in the 3470 if you like, or windows if you need that.

Heh, those prices definately didnt come from Alternate.NL..probably .DE.
That same system costs me 860 euro's on Alternate.NL. Although I dig the GFX upgrade there, the 250Gigs of SSD is the most important to me.
My desktop is used only 20/30% for gaming, so investing in a GFX card while I give up on workspace considering I/O speed (read especially, write is less important) is a no/go as I would sacrifice performance on that part where the desktop is actually ment for.

Anyways I just ordered, thx all for the replies.

    ASRock B75 Pro3 iB75, SATA600 RAID, USB3.0
    Intel Core i5 3470 3.20GHz 6MB Box
    Samsung SSD 2.5", 250GB, SATA600, 840 Series
    Seagate Harddisk 3.5" 1TB, SATA600, 7200rpm, ST1000DM003 * 2 for Raid0
    Crucial 2x8GB, DDR3, PC12800, CL9, Ballistix Sport
    Zotac GFX PCI-e GeForce GTX650 Ti Boost 2GB DVI/HDMI/DP

It aint a topnotch system, but good enough for another 3 years of smooth workflow.

It was actually 802 euros at the dutch one. But I left the cpu cooler in this one, which drives the price up a bit. Without the cooler it was 802

But have fun with your system.
