marijuana Legal? or illegal?

Yes i do know that this is a verty touchy thread in the rules where it does say nothing illegal such as contraband ( but i am asumeing that its for pictures only)

But it does seam as many States are voting towards marijuana use for medical,clothing,paper,pencils,medicine,etc I mean personally i have never smoked any substance of my 22 years but do believe it could be used for good.

I've never touched the stuff a day in my life, and I believe it should be legal. Alcohol is a much, much worse drug, in my opinion.

No-one has any business making it illegal in the first place. For that matter, there is no justification for the drinking age being 21 instead of 18.

Federal law trumps state law, so while it may be 'legal' in some states, it's really illegal in all states regardless.

Personally, I don't like the thought of smoking it. But really, that's just because I'm fed up with people thinking they're "cool" for doing it. It's like douchebags who think it's a big deal that they drink, whether it be underaged or not, just makes me sigh and shake my head... Other than that, I really have no problem with it.

I mean really, when you allow something like cigarettes, where it's sole purpose it to make people addicted so they buy more, to demonize marijuana is just ignorant and hypocritical, and that's ignoring the other uses it can have. But, people will always hold onto their ideals, no matter how stupid they are.

I suggest going to a forum that doesn't slap someone for topics like these. About any other places is a better place to discuss this topic, than here. As there are far more educated and dedicated people on the topic. That can educate vast majority of people here, with peer review studies.

Hell, most debates/discussions here; about the subject at hand, comes FROM REDDIT. Most MMOchampion posters information on the subject, comes FROM REDDIT.

It is already completely legal for recreational use in the state I live in (Washington).

Honestly this didn't change much as the city where I live (Seattle) established city municipal code 12A.20.060 many years ago which made marijuana the city's lowest law enforcement priority. Personal use has effectively been legal inside the city limits since then. The full state wide legalization is more just peace of mind that when you are driving someplace else in state you can have it safely stowed away in your vehicle without fear of getting in trouble.

Really it is still shocking to me that it has taken this long for full legalization. Seattle has proved for years now that marijuana just took the focus of our important law enforcement officers away from duties that matter. It would be interesting to find some data how much money the city has saved over the years not having to prosecute these cases.

What is there to really argue? For those that are anti-marijuana... there aren't a whole lot of valid arguments... Now that I think about it... I don't think there's a single legit opposing view to marijuana. Some people like it, others don't... but it should be legal because it's not anymore dangerous than someone eating a big mac meal.

Unfortunately, "valid arguments" haven't ever been required for law. It's a "rational basis" test, not "intelligent basis".

You won't get banned for advocating for or against legalizing marijuana it's when the conversation deviates from that discussion when infractions get passed out.

I've never smoked marijuana and never plan to, so I don't care either way. As long as you aren't affecting me with whatever you're doing, do whatever you want. I do realize that marijuana actually helps people with medical problems, so it'd be great if the option was always there.

I don't look up the subject so I'm not up to date on where medical use is legal/illegal, but I remember reading a story where there was someone with cancer that was going through chemo, and he/she was saying how marijuana helped reduce some of the side effects of it(vomiting and whatnot) but the person couldn't get it legally.
