How to make men's straight hair curly?

The internet is plastered with guides on how to make women's straight hair curly, but what about men who have short hair, like me? How long do I have to let my hair grow before I can attempt a perm or something like this to make my hair good looking curly?

I had all different styles in my life, but never curly and I really want to try it out.

My hair is currently quite short... http://www.mens-hairstyle.com/wp-con...short-hair.jpg pretty much like this.

    Any tips?

Yeahhh, I kinda figured that out. But even men with short hair can have curly hair. My cousin has naturally curly hair and even at my length you can see it.

If I made them curly now, I guess they wouldn't keep on growing this way, but rather naturally straight, or?

Why in the hells Guy would want to change his 'Manly Short hair' to some 'Curly Jersey Dbag haircut'?

What's a thing of the 70's? Curly hair? I don't care, even if its a thing of the early 20's... there are things that one has to try, no matter what.

And a perm lasts only several months, so if I don't like it, I just cut my hair back to the way it is now and gg.

For temporary curl effects it can depend on a ton of stuff like your hair type - some types just won't hold a curl for more than half a day at most, and how much time you want to spend, curling your hair every day would surely be a drag time-wise.

Otherwise you are looking at a perm... but... I wouldn't recommend that!

If you have that short hair, do you really care about your hair then?

You cant when it is that short and it would still grow straight. Otherwise, perm.

I can try it, can't I? What if I look incredibly awesome with curly hair... and I will never know if I don't try it.

I'll try new things out even when I am 60 years old. Keeps life interesting.

That's what I guessed. I guess I have to wait a few months for my hair to grow back.

Why are people so much against a perm? Because it includes chemicals? Pf, everything we put on us includes chemicals. I can just as well stop living if I started avoiding them.

I do very much so. One of the reasons why it's so short is because I care about it (or rather my looks in general). After years of having longish hair I wanted to try something new and it suited me quite well. Time for something new, but cutting off was easier than growing back is...

Why in the hell would I care about how people in Jersey style their hair? I am thousands of kilometers away from them.

I don't think you can get a perm with short hair. It needs to have a certain minimum length before you can roll it up in those cylindrical thingies. And if it's only "barely long enough", but not really long, it's gonna look like a wig (like this). After a few weeks the curls will weaken and it might look good and "natural" but IMO the first few weeks you are going to look ridiculous

Because most of the time it looks ridiculous. Like having a wig glued on your head. And you mostly see old ladies sporting it nowadays for that reason. It's your choice of course, but be careful with the kind of perm you will be going for.

I think Kit Harrington's hair would be the closest I am aiming for. I am well aware that I would have to let it grow for quite some time, but I have no intention of going to the barber any time soon.

I mean, a perm only makes it curly. How you style it is up to you, or not?!

With hair that short its like asking how to get a white mans short hair to look like a black mans short hair. I think it's actually impossible. Perm needs some length to work and it doesn't really look like a naturally very curly hair looks.

Totally a matter of one's own taste.

Yes, as far as I know the process only affects the hair that you already have now, not the one that will grow after. So if you're not planning on leaving them to grow long, don't do it - it will only be waste of time and money to do a perm to such short hair.
