[TV] Why was Tera Nova cancelled after only 1 season?

Im watching it right now on Netflix. Its really good. Did anyone else like it?

Cost 6mill an episode I heard so basically the money they got back was nowhere near enough to cover costs of S1.

I enjoyed it. Saw a few articles/interviews saying it was cancelled because viewers weren't as high as they could be if they replaced it with some other reality crap basically. Not to mention some said the tone wasn't dark enough and the way Season 1 ended and Season 2 was suppose to head towards was a dark tone towards the series.

Yeah, it cost too much and didn't get enough viewers.

It was a great show, but like all great and creative tv shows, they get cancelled because it's not what 20 million people watch.

I watched it when it came out. I liked it! Sad that its gone

because all good scifi shows are cancelled these days. It's just not a popular genre for the sheep with cable it seems.

Watch Stargate SG-1! Its on Netflix. Damn I got hooked on that show earlier this year. I had heard about it years ago and planned to watch it for a long time, but always thought it looked to shitty and boring. Then one night in January I decided to watch a few episodes. And that was that lol.. Hooked like hell

I enjoyed it too. Unfortunately it was ridiculously expensive to make and didn't draw in a large enough crowd to warrant the expense. Television is a for-profit business.

I liked it too. It had its problems but it was still better than all the reality TV shows that get renewed indefinitely.
Meanwhile, back on Azeroth, the overwhelming majority of the orcs languished in internment camps. One Orc had a dream. A dream to reunite the disparate souls trapped under the lock and key of the Alliance. So he raided the internment camps, freeing those orcs that he could, and reached out to a downtrodden tribe of trolls to aid him in rebuilding a Horde where orcs could live free of the humans who defeated them so long ago. That orc's name was... Rend.

Because no one watched when it was on and when they are dropping 6 mil an episode you have to pay for it somehow advertiser's aren't paying to get a commercial watched by a couple thousand people.

I loved it! And it happened the same way as to Firefly! Damn I would love it these two had like 10 seasons or something.

Too expensive for the viewer base it was getting, and I'm frankly not entirely sure why it was so expensive as there were hardly any dinosaurs and when they were there they looked pretty terrible, Jurassic Park was made like 20 years ago and those actually looked real...oh well.

Anyways, I liked it well enough, took a while for the story to get interesting and now I'm kind of curious as to where they were going with it when the show ended. Not surprised though, pretty much 50% of all shows worth watching these days get canned after one season and we get stuck with shit like Survivor 647.

I actually didn't think it was that great.

It had a good premise and some good effects. The problem was that they tried to make it appeal to both family audiences as well as more adult audiences. It ended up seeming awkward at times really not appealing to either side. I think it would have done better if they went one way or the other with it, but trying to walk the line in the middle ends up ruining things.

It's kind of like superhero movies. There is fan service stuff thrown in but they try to appeal to a general audience. While it may be a bad example since they're box office successes they're really not great movies.

Also network television LOL. Fox to boot..

Primeval is 10X better than that stupid drama Terra Nova. Living in the dinosaur age and all you saw were humans talking 99% of the time. Not enough action.

I watched about three episodes, and I just found it difficult to care about the characters. It was just kind of meh...

Why was Tera Nova cancelled after only 1 season?
Because honestly it wasn't really that good. It was a neat concept and I really wanted to like it, but after a few episodes I realized that I didn't care about the story or any of the characters.

I didn't think it was that good, but it was cancelled because the production costs far outshone the prices they could charge for commercial time during the show because of low viewership after the first couple episodes.

I thought it was horrible. *shrugs*

I also like Jason O'Mara, really liked him in Life on Mars. Cast did look decent overall for Terra Nova, except I think the teenage-cast. Speaking of teenagers, that's something that put me off greatly as well.

And then there's the shoddy storyline and writing, and "every episode is a new story"-type of series, I loathe those with a passion. They only work when the cast itself is superb and holding up the show on it's own (see SG-1 early seasons, cast chemistry was golden no matter how shitty the plot was)
