Kind of bull. Due to vengeance, a third tank in 10 man doesn't change the DPS requirement. As long as the tank isn't dumb they will tunnel all of their damage into the Animus, and just keep the massive on them through passive cleave damage. It's also a fact that the DPS requirement in 10 man is "easier" to meet than 25 man due to the health pool of the animus.
But yea, 900M hp in 25 man, assuming 20 dps, 1 tank, 4 healers, 160 seconds for enrage, that's 90M/160=5625K raid dps, 5625K/20 = 281K. Subtract however much the tank can manage to push out from 5625K and you've got the exact number.

Hey, it's actually 890 millions or so, that makes it so much easier.

Not really, it's 890, give or take few hundred thousands. Check kill logs, it's never full 900mln.

boss dies at ~1.5% or so.

Lol this strat is so brainless. Such a joke guys...if you're still on this boss and have good dps (+ good warlock(ours did 500k DPS) then seriously go for it....
You can watch my guilds disc pov on youtube...the title is like, Herioc Dark Animus Zergggg stratt or something.

ya we killed it tonight finally heres our kill if anyone wanted to see (mumble included) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoAbEtnW0nc thanks for the strat HC!

P.S. just a final note: I highly do not recommend doing this strat for progression unless your DPS are all above 535 ilvl at the bare minimum and you have a prot paladin or brewmaster. I know we did and HC did I assume but ya, the only reason we killed it and didn't hit enrage after like a 100 wipes was because our Demo lock got 3x procs from his 100% crit trinket (unerring or whatever its called). Complete RNG, our kill literally came down to whether or not our warlock got more then 1 trinket proc which is pretty insane. I was an idiot and forgot to log but heres our numbers for our damage done to Dark Animus. (Only DA damage matters)

    Warlock: 56.6 Mill to DA
Prot Paladin: 46 Mill to DA
Fire Mage: 31 Mill to DA
BM Hunter: 31 Mill to DA
BM Hunter: 29.5 Mill to DA (yes we used 2 hunters lol)
Unholy DK: 29 Mill to DA
Ret Paladin: 27 Mill to DA
    Boomkinlol: 25 Mill to DA
Disc Priest: 10 Mill to DA
Mistweaver: 1.5 Mill to DA (All from Xuen talent)

1 tank 2 healed, already posted our strat in an earlier page. Only difference we made on the kill was having our prot paladin tank 2x mini golems the entire time instead of 1 for more vengeance/damage. If you don't have at least 1 amazing demo warlock with Unerring trinket you honestly wont have the DPS to kill it. GL!

pretty sure for the most part requires some specific classes, but yea with good dps it is zergable, getting past the start is a lot more rough than getting past the start doing it with a normal strat, after like the first 30-40 seconds it's like 100% tank and spank and pushing high dps to get it down.

At this point yes it def. comes down to specific classes such as Demo Locks and Prot Paladins/Brewmasters. We really really really found having a disc priest being able to pump out an additional 10 million damage to the boss, to be make or break since the rest of our DPS were slacking.

"Zerg" strat is definately all about massive Tank Vengeance, and a Demo lock with UVLS doesn't hurt either. We killed it before our 2 min Cooldowns came back up.

Got our first kill on it with the zerg strat last night with a 2:20 kill, 2tank 2heal. Skyscreamers all around!

Was looking at your log last night before our kill, Xploits, your damage is absurd! Even with half of it being on the small golems I was really impressed with the effective boss damage doom blanketing pumps out.

Tanks in general seem to do more damage in 25 man because things hits harder and thus gaining more vengance. And you can't just look blindly at the HP of mobs when comparing the two, you need to account for that 10 man is based for a lower ilvl due to less geardrops and lower chance for TF (so dpsnumbers might be harder to reach for a 10 man guild than a 25 man guild).

It might just me not being used to it, but going from 13/13 25 HC to doing 13/13 10 HC, Dark animus in particular is a boss that feels a lot more clunky in 10 man compared to 25, this being mainly due to the abovementioned things with tanks.

That said, the zerg strat is going to be easier in 10 man (if it's even doable in 25 man), but the part about the 3rd tank and that I'd say is wrong. Obviously doable with 3 tanks in 10 man aswell their damage is not the same.

10 man, making the hardest bosses look easy due to scaling since 2009! A little bit jelly that you guys can do this.

  14. #154
So jealous of raid teams with comps capable of pulling this off. Painful 5% wipe last night using the actual strategy due to people playing in anima fonts.

We on CN realms have to deal with an extra 5% damage/hp from everything. Sure we get a little ilevel boost, but doing this on 25? forget about it

What tanking strategy did you guys use? 2 small + animus on one tank and 3 smalls on another? Did you kill any of the smalls?

  17. #157
Also got our first kill using this strategy. Perfectly viable for progress but it wasn't as easy as it seemed. The comp we decided to go with was 2 tank, 2 heal and 6 dps. Our prot paladin took 3 golems and dark animus on pull and out brewmaster took 2 adds leaving everybody else with 1 apart from our rogue.

The dps requirement is exaggerated a fair amount in this thread, our prot paladin hadn't even had the dps meta due to rerolling mid tier and our lock hadn't UVLS so couldn't play demo for its advantages on this fight and we still managed to get it down at 2:20. on average every dps was doing 200k dps and prot paladin did 600k ish, so on average ghuild ilvl is 537. We had a total of 89 wipes on this, very rng with trinket procs and if healers had anima font following them. Tank damage is insane was our main burden during progress.

Good luck to anyone trying it, felt very satisfactory.

Dream paragon did it with 2 tank/2 heal and their lock played affli and still did 400k because it took like 1.5 minutes rofl. Then again they are dream paragon so...

  19. #159
Its all about the prot Paladin. Get him to do 800k+ DPS and your laughing. DPS from classes other than the tank doesn't matter too much.

Protpaladin changes everything... on this fight they are out-DPSing any other tank by very high amounts while being a lot less likely to be instagibbed during the first ~15sec of the Fight. A Brewmaster as 2nd Tank is also the perfect addition. Honestly once you have a Protpaladin who doesn't suck the DPS requirements are a joke, but without its not that easy. With Protpaladin+Monk you basically could also play it with 3 Healers and still have enough DPS.
