    How good will Ret be in PVP compared to other melee in 5.4?

    Deciding to reroll another toon and it's a toss up between a Pally and a Mage. Not really a fan of playing casters though so was wondering how Rets will be compared to Arms, UH/Frost, rogues, etc in 5.4? The best? Middle of the line? Warriors are getting some nice buffs but not enough to make them the best, just middle of the pack.

    Arms and Ret are two completely different beasts. I love my pally though, and anything I say is going to come off extremely biased (I have played Arms a cap though)

    That being said;

    1) Mobility evens out. Warriors have charge, but Rets cannot be snared/slowed effectively + Judgment sprint.

    2) Warriors have second wind, but it's easy to counter that with timed burst. Re's healing is good all the time.

    3) Ret has a lot of ranged,

    Are they changing ret healing next patch? Just played 2's against war/ret and the freaking ret was able to off heal the warrior for a good 2 minutes while still doing decent damage until we killed the war finally.

    So you want every double dps team to roll over for you in 10 seconds? Offhealing is one of Ret's major contributions. When you play against a hybrid you really should not expect much shorter matches than against healer/dps; while a hybrid dps is a much worse healer than a real one, the dps and utility they bring also indirectly nerfs your damage due to extra pressure. In fact one of the biggest flaws of WoW pvp historically has been that throughout much of the past hybrid dps were given token heals that did not even remotely make up for the extra utility brought by pure dps. Hybrid dps heals are supposed to be noticeable, otherwise we might as well not even have hybrid dps.

    IMO Ret and UH DK are top melee right now. Ret is the best its been in a very long time granted we aren't the one man army we were when wrath first launched but we have a more complete toolkit.

    For PvE it depends on how the new dungeon works with melee. For some reason, since Cataclysm, Blizzard hasn't made raids very melee friendly. Even with Throne of Thunder, most would rather take a ranged dps over a melee. Again, depends on the fight mechanics.

    In PvP both Warriors and Rets are not very wanted in PvP. They will take Rogues and DKs with WindWalker a bit as well. Though with a number of nerfs given out to ranged dps, we'll have to see how things work out. Warlocks are getting some proper nerfs, and some to Hunters as well, but unbeknownst to me Mages are actually receiving some buffs. Which are the anti melee classes for most RBGs.
