Blizzard's attempted balance between class/specs is awful and has always been awful. They are not getting closer which is a problem. I personally am tired of their excuses and would like to see somebody competent put in charge.

P.S. Dark Age of Camelot RVR was a million times closer to balanced than World of Warcraft will ever be and they had THREE factions with their own classes.
While DAOC RVR was superb in many respects the whole Team Lead for each classes was a disaster primarily due to Mythic ignoring urgent issues and famously "tabling" concerns. Some classes like the Cabalist went on for years without updates or improvements. Considering Mythic's involvement in SWOTR this comes to me as no surprise.

The system of using "Class Leads" was not the problem. Mythic not fixing things was the problem. They got bought out by EA and well the rest is history.

You actually never played DAOC right ? Cause saying that it was PVP balanced ?!?! DaoC was massively unbalanced and RVR being glorious had nothing to do with balance (the more people you throw in a battle, the less you'll see class imbalance).

RVR was awesome because it was, well, RVR. Not because of classes.

    P.S. : Midgard FTW

DAOC pvp has been the benchmark for balance. Yes in the beginning Midgard had ridiculous aoe stuns and then they threw another wrench in the mix by adding TOA MLs but for the MOST PART it's been regarded as one of the more balanced pvp games.

This process is going to be largely in your hands! As of the time of making this post, you will be able to head over to your Advanced Class Forum and you will find a post where you can begin nominations for who your Class Representative will be. After a span of time (a week or so) we will create a poll with the names we saw mentioned most, by each AC, and you will vote on who you want your rep to be! I want to note that Class Representatives will be shared across mirrored ACs, so Sentinel and Marauder will have the same representative. We are still going to allow one to be selected for each, but they will rotate in their responsibilities.

Also, each Class Representative will only serve for one “term” (more on that later). After that a new representative will be elected!
I wish they would've done something like this on the WoW forums for MVPs. Note: I have no interest in being any forum mod/MVP. Some of those current ones are doing a real good job of making Blizzard look bad.

Cho'Gall you mean, but yeah it does sound quite similar in many ways.

Yeah I can kinda see it too, but yogg had a "fill up your bar and you get MCed" mechanic too (I think there was like 1 other boss that also had it but I forget), but Cho's did do other stuff as your bar went up. Though the heroic mechanic looks pretty neat.
    I don't know. Something.

Ran all range on PTR thus far and have been pwning bosses, 1-5 attempts. GL next tier Melee, i am amazed they are going this route again.

Too few servers, too little, too late. My server isn't even on that list. It went from High pop to no pop over a year and a half. My guild died, my friend's guilds died, and now everyone has quit the game as the server transfer fee is bullshtocko (Defiance ftw!). Blizzard has no idea what they are doing anymore. The beast has many heads and they all have no idea what the others are plotting.

A game is better off if people with knowledge of many specs and classes are the ones offering insights.
This is a good point. Sadly, it's how much of the world is run. The best people for the job aren't always the ones who get the job. Sometimes it's the better interviewer.

But, it can't hurt to have players who play the shit out of the game give feedback for the devs to consider. I'm torn on this.

When the class rep calls them out on it they will get canned and be replaced with someone that is a kiss ass. Eventually even the kiss ass gets tired of the crap too and they get booted and the cycle starts anew.
Yeah, the never-ending cycle of the rEApers isn't a novelty to anyone, anymore. Strangely Bioware seems pretty oblivious to what they are now.

People are mistaking Class Representative with Class Designer.

These people will represent the class, and if they're not good then the community has itself to blame for voting them in. Same principal as a democratic government, except that you'll actually be able to see the qualifications of a nominee by his posts. If he has very few and all of them are bad then don't vote for him.

In the end it won't particularly matter. A good Class Rep should represent their class in a best possible light. They should be able to carefully articulate any changes their people want and explain why. They should not be biased (though they likely will be) and, at the end of the day, Blizzard doesn't have to listen to them.

How much sway do you think they'll have? I don't think they'll have as much as you think. Elitist Jerks and other theorycrafters have been finding flaws in Blizzard's design for years and Blizzard simply doesn't listen.
