looking for recommendations to stop cpu from overheating

In the last 2-3 months my computer has been overheating a few times per week, now that it is summer it seems to happen every day. If I play anything with higher graphics requirement that is. I can leave cpu with internet up and browse without overheat.

I Recently bought an Antec TrueQuiet 120 to install in my case, It is running but my CPU continues to overheat.

I'm looking to spend <$50 if possible

. The CPU fan I presently have is Antec Truequiet 120
. The motherboard is AMD Athlon II x2 250 Processor
    . I have a GTX 260 graphics card

Since it's about computer upgrades, moved to sub-forum.

What CPU/motherboard, what CPU-cooler, what case and what's your ambient temp?

I would start by dusting out the heatinks/fans for cpu and gpu. If that isn't enough remove the heatsinks on both of those and apply some fresh thermal paste.
I know it's only the cpu but might as well get both of them done at the same time.

This seems like a TIM issue rather than a cooler issue - you can pick some up for around $6 that should help immensely.
