So, I am currently getting ready to start looking at the possibility of going for a medical degree to become an er doctor. I have read that during the application process that they look at my work and volunteer experience. I am hoping that someone who has been down this route can shed some light on this for me. What kind of work / volunteer experience do they want to see? Do colleges really want to see a lot of volunteer kind of activities during the application process? Would there be a way for me to volunteer in an ER so that I am gaining some form of accepted volunteer experience while also gaining some medical knowledge?

Only people who have been down this road and have gotten some form of a medical degree respond please. While I may still look at other answers, they won't hold too much weight if they don't pertain to what I want to learn specifically and what the colleges look for in this field.
