Well since all players have baseline resilience, ganking is no longer as satisfying, as you need to work a bit to get the kill unlike 2 shotting someone.
Very much so yes.
I also make sure to have my main (PvP dude) in the same zone, as the guy im lvling.
I've been ganked by a group of hordes the same level as my alt, multiple times. I switch to my main and kill em, they switch to their mains and try to kill me, I call up some friends; and sooner you know, you have a full scale war going on. Fun.
I like juice
Camping seems pretty rare these days, but plain ol' ganking happens. I'm always glad to see someone my level that's interested in fighting repeatedly, especially if they can hold up their end of the fight.
Must be your server. Few that I play on it's more prevalent at 90. In levelling up 9 toons to 80+ and 5 to 90 I get attacked much more at max level. And most of the time sub 90 it's equal level players so fights are fair.
Anyway, general response to everyone here. Don't roll on a PVP server if you don't want to be ganked. I don't gank low levels, but doesn't mean others will. I've often helped quite a few alliance that are in trouble with mobs and they are usually very grateful. Equal level or higher levels (when i'm sub 90) are always kill on sight. I like a challenge.
I fully expect to be ganked and/or camped by higher levels. But, it's a pvp server and I made my choice so i'm fine with it. I'm very adept at fighting back, or being stealthy and avoiding being attacked. You'd be surprised at how little you get ganked if you know how to use your terrain to your advantage and not be seen.
Reroll on a PVE server or don't complain about ganking. Simple.
Same. Though I only seek retribution if I'm...unfairly ganked (a group or someone much higher level). If it's a fair 1v1 gank on equal terms and I lose, it's fine, I'm not butthurt and won't log my main who is usually just hovering above the area I'm questing in. If he tries again and I still lose, I will try to improve myself without calling in the big daddy.
If I get ganked by a stealther, even much higher level, I let it go cause there is no way to get a stealther out of hiding to fight him.
Some 90 dk ganked my 2nd monk lately which was leveling in valley of the four winds. I logged my main monk which I eat just about everything for breakfast, but the bastard was just hovering on his mount now. Even went down on the ground and did taunting emotes but no, the coward was just hovering above. Don't you just love flying mounts sometimes ?!
I was being ganked by a lvl90 rogue near some quest giver in Uldum. I then switched to watching Futurama while corpserunning at the same time. I was purposefully feeding him, ressing at the exact same spot, only to be ambushed instantly. He killed me some 10 times, /laughing every time. After that, he stopped and started /apoligizing and left. I then continued watching Futurama with a big smile on my face.
with CRZ it's about 80 times worse, I bring my main to whatever zone I'm leveling my new toons on to respond to, not a matter of if just when.
I've found a way to deal with this, somewhat. Well, my way that is.
When I first get ganked on a sub 90 I will usually run back to the spot but wait before ressing. This is usually a great opportunity to take a break. Go to the bathroom, get a drink, etc. By this time most gankers will be bored and move on. If the person is intent on camping you they'll hang around.
So before I res I log on my main and bring him close and land almost near the spot i died. Unless you're in the same guild as your alt and the guy was paying attention - he'll just think you're someone else. At that point I land on the ground and 'pretend' to be AFK to lure them in. If it's someone intent on camping a lowbie they'll usually take the bait in thinking they're getting a free kill on an AFK 90 and dismount + attack you.
Then it's time for vengeance . You don't ever lose these because the players are usually very bad. I'd say most good players don't hang around and camp after a kill. After wiping the floor with the guy (depending on the mood I'm in) I'll either let him live or kill him around 3/4 more times to either teach him a lesson or get him to call reinforcements.
Go back to alt, enjoy.
Works like a charm.
Absolutely. I remember my alts getting ganked a lot back when I was levelling them a few months ago, although I never really got camped and it wasn't that bad for the most part.
As some people have already mentioned, it doesn't become that bad at 90, unless of course you're well known to the other faction on your server or whatever (think along the lines of popular and famous players such as big streamers).
Yes, and the more populated your CRZ is, the more you're going to get ganked.
There are specific zones to steer clear of, even. For some reason 90s flock to certain areas to kill lowbies.
Avoid Stranglethorn Vale, Tanaris, Blasted Lands particularly around the Dark Portal, Hellfire Peninsula particularly Thrallmar, Borean Tundra, Sholazar Basin, and Mount Hyjal.
when I leveled my monk to 90 on Tich over the last 2 weeks I got ganked 4 times. A Monk and Pally in Plaguelands, then not again until TBC where a Mage got me in Nagrand and then not again until a Warlock got me in Hyjal at 81. Its not as bad as some people make it out to be. From what some people say you would think theres constant 40 man raids roaming every lowbie zone making it impossible for anyone to live longer than 10 seconds.
Yes, but you're less likely to be ganked in higher level zones if you're rolling with friends. I say if someone is worried about being ganked but loves the spontaneity of pvp servers, roll a rogue.
Also it depends on your server...Kil'jaeden sees plenty of world pvp while others don't.
You haven't seen Hellfire Peninsula on my server's CRZ...the area around the dark portal is okay sometimes but you generally see at least one or two people out there ganking at any hour of the day when you come through, and Thrallmar is under siege at least once every two hours by 90s.
I don't complain about getting ganked on a PvP server though, I just avoid leveling in those areas if I don't feel like dealing with it. That's what BGs and dungeons are for.
