Gold spending habits - how do you use it?

I've been thinking this, as there's been few gold-related threads going again. How do you use your gold? Do you hoard it or spend it all in something?

I have few hundred thousand gold, but i never really farm it or do AH business, i only sell things in AH if my bags are going to be full. I never really buy anything (mounts etc.), most of my gold goes to repairs and few odd transmog item (if i see one with low price...). So i just slowly earn more than i spend.

I have banks full of crafting materials (collected when leveling etc.), so when i changed my main character's professions, i just used them and spend only like 200g in AH because i was too lazy to really farm one stack of ie. herbs for few skill levels. If i need enchants, i just make them myself, i have bag full of enchant materials anyway from green drops i got from leveling/dailies. Gems? Same thing, i can craft anything i need, no gold spend in AH. I'm just some LFR hero so i cba to use flasks/potions but if i need them, i just make them myself.

But even if i have more gold than i could ever use, i feel that it's MY gold. I have made it myself, and it belongs to no-one else than me. So i'm not giving gold to anyone. (last time i loaned gold was in classic) Lol, imaginary money really is serious business. Oh fuck what a miser i am...

So i'm just self-sufficient miser. This applies to every game, i never spend that much money in single player RPG's etc.

Edit: meh, of course i also spend gold to transmog and reforges too.

I used to love to pile up my gold. I stocked it into the millions. I watched markets and played the AH.

Then one day I realized it's just an imaginary currency in a fantasy game.

There's absolutely ZERO reason to stockpile it. It means nothing in the real world.

So, I started buying mounts, gear, pets, whatever I wanted. It doesn't matter. It's so easy to make. Enjoy it, don't stockpile it.

I buy mounts and pets. Most I've ever had is about 120,000, but in total I've earned in my playing time close to a million I would guess, but I buy TCG mounts ingame, Panther/Mammoth mounts, rare pets like Hyacinth Macaw and the ToT boss ones. Since MoP added a lot of vendor-rep mounts I've never had more than 20000 because of the amount I buy ^_^

I realize that, (even wrote it in my post) but i can't help myself. I'm not really spending any money in IRL either so it's just my thing. And there is no any good mounts in game besides drakes and talbuks lol. After all, i'm not really making any work for my gold pile. But this is not a point. Just interested where others will use their goldzzz.

Well I do raid, so flasks, pots, 300stst food, echants and gems. And then every rep I get exalted if there is a mount, i buy it. I hover between the 75k-150k normally.

most i ever had at once was around 10k while saving for the chopper parts in wotlk.

now i normaly hover between 1k and 5k, depending on how much alts i lvl (they are my main income ...). the money quickly evaporates after one arena session and 4 enchants and 6 gems later though ...

so pretty much only gems, enchants, reforges.

Nothing, really.. I farm my food, guild gives flasks and the most expensive enchanting mats. I do buy some silly items every once in a while, just because I can.

I was always pretty poor, never came above 100g in vanilla. In TBC I finally got a bit rich (rich for me being; able to buy epic flying) by farming epic gems in BT (before MotherSharazz) on two/three of our guilds mage's chars (account sharing gallore back then). Then in WotLK I maxed mining on an alt and I found the perfect spot, I would mine Wintergrasp on my normal mount since you couldn't fly (and since you couldn't fly, nobody bothered with WG) so I had the whole zone basicly to myself. I became totally addicted and mined about 400/500k total in a few weeks (I would get up early before going to school and do 1/3x my route, was crazy mine-addict). I then quit and have been using that 500k ever since, never farmed again.

I'm now on 100k left, I mainly bought transmorph gear on the BMAH (tier3 priest for my mage alt , tier3 for my shaman alt etc) I was on a low pop realm so it didn't cost me crazy amounts (more like 10k/piece). I also bought the 120k mount last week since I still had 120k on my alt realm, I never did such large buys but it suddenly hit me that I was never going to use that money again anyway (cba to transfer them) and I would like to be self sufficient with reforging/selling inside raidinstances, was a great buy which I should've done earlier. I make my own flasks/pots mainly thru Tillers but buy some herbs as well. Bought the Darkmoon trinket for my priest which I still use (fu Horridon). but yeah, I'm still using my 500k from WotLK so I try to save money whereever I can.
For example if I need to level a profession on an alt, instead of buying the needed Golthorn for 800g/stack on Kazzak I go out into the world to farm them, I just don't spend crazy amounts and herbing in the old world again is also fun from time to time.

Never really spend my gold, never really try and make it either, it just accumulates. made 35k over the past 2 months of just doing pet dailies its amazing how it adds up.

The most I've ever spent was 350k on my spectral tiger back in WOTLK. Most I have spent in MoP I think was 18k on an orb to make one JC'ing mount.

Sometimes I'll buy pets cheap on other realms and sell them for 4-5 times the amount on other realms, but its not something I do on a regular basis.

I guess if a mount or pet showed up that I really wanted I would spend my gold.

I horde my gold in an alt's guild bank. I'm more likely to spend it on friends than myself. I did buy that reforging mount and usually I like to buy the darkmoon trinkets for my main during the first tier of an expansion. Other than that it just goes in that guild bank "just in case".

I do almost nothing with my gold...there's nothing I need gold for, guild covers repairs, flasks, etc. I also spend 0 time farming/AH stuff, with the exception of AHing a valuable BoE that I won in a /roll after our guild has things on farm.

I average 3-4 BoEs per raid tier so auctioning those off, or the random crafted item, usually keeps me in WAY more gold than I actually need.
