A friend of my sister's is considering a desktop PC, and she might be looking into a custom build (I am guessing I get pegged with the assembly, we'll see). I haven't gotten much information yet (if she has a monitor or peripherals she can reuse), but the SUGGESTED price range is $500-600 (conversations about this just started between my sister and I, so I am not positive on how firm the price range is). Before I go anywhere on this, though, I know that the PC will mostly be general-use browsing and such. One exception here is that she wants Photoshop for (what I imagine is minimal) photo editing.

As someone who does not play with Photoshop, I figured I would ask a bit about its resource consumption. Is it something that consumes a lot of CPU or GPU time? Will an AMD desktop APU handle it? Will a PileDriver CPU do the job? i3? Is an i5 needed? I'll continue to gather what information I can about the parameters of the build and report back, and thanks in advance for any input provided.
