Maybe if wow had something like openraid.com then groups would be eaiser to form. Both of my 9/9 gold runs came from cross server groups.

@op, so how much did you pay?

Blizzard probably realizes by now they let selling run rampant on the Battle.net Achievement forums too long (now they delete them on sight). Buying a carry was too easy and while they initially thought CMs were super successful, I'd have to think they're concerned that maybe more than half the golds we see were sold via breaking the TOS. Some of the ad posts claimed to have sold over 200+ carries. Carriers made upwards of several thousand dollars and 10+ million gold. A few posters here can attest to that.

The same thing might happen to a much lesser extent with the meta mount because it's also cross-realm, but it won't be as common because it's split many more ways, not that visually impressive, and heroic guilds have Garrosh mount selling to focus on. CMs were basically a perfect storm with just the 4 way split, cross-realm, and a lot of the RBG/Arena sellers moved onto that.

    You shouldn't be offended.

Unfortunately it's very easy to boost players through Challenge Modes so there is a huge amount of players who are buying them.
Also question and never assume they had the l337 skills.
Buyers don't deserve the credit :P

I've had people ask if I've paid for a carry at the end of Cata, but that's about it.

Don't see the issue paying for cms in gold or rl currency is very common so the question might come up.

When even fellow guild-members ask you how much you paid it may be time to reevaluate how good you think you are.

I share your pain OP, I get asked that several times a week when myself 2 good friends and OpenRaid connections worked very hard to earn them. Occasionally someone asks my advice on strategy and I feel happy though.

We boost plenty of people for gold CM's because, unfortunately, your average "pugger" can't do them very efficiently but sure, go and get a group of people willing to do the same and with a lot of time and patience I'm sure you'd manage it without having to pay gold.

Most people pay not because they are not capable of doing them, but because they want them done efficiently and not everyone has access to players who are capable of attaining gold tbh.

Some people we have boosted (successfully) have been really bad and obviously would not have managed to get 9/9 gold otherwise, but some have been very good and as such, we've actually gotten a few decent realm times with them so yeah just depends on the player.

DOes it really matter? In my guild, we don't really care. Some of us buy gametime with gold, etc. Hell, I asked around in guild to find somewhere to buy my challenge modes, and no one really cared (Did find a group, saving up money right now - so hoping I can get lucky with Shadowmourne Shards soon, keep getting 2-4 per run >.>).

Point is; Why do you care?

If someone has plenty of pvp/pve achievements like reasonable ratings and heroic modes then its quite likely that they didn't buy challenge modes. If someone has little experience in pve or pvp its more likely they did. I probably wouldn't ask someone if they got boosted just because they didn't have other achievements, but i'd think it. (And if they annoyed me I'd probably ask)

They take a long time to do the first time if you are doing them with a pug, alot of people just dont want to waste hours wiping in Gold CM's.
Makes sense to me. Also what is providing all my gold atm

Sadly some people have to pay just to get the opportunity to run gold.

  15. #55
there is also this thing ... its much easier to make 150-200k on ah then find a group capable of doin gold times there -_-

A lot of people are paying for Gold runs thats why they asked. Its becoming a common thing.
