Experience with Aria PC anyone? Would greatly help.

    Heya people,

Has anyone had any experience with Aria PC before? They're a UK based company for those wondering,

Im interested in a computer on their website, that seems to be quite good value, there doesn't seem to be anything dealbusting with it.

I would build my own but I dont really have the knowledge necessary.

There are quite a few mixed reviews on google, which I have seen, I would just like to hear it personally from you guys.

The computer in question is -----

    http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gaming...age=2&rqcType=

Any reviews, good or bad would help. So thanks!

Aria PC from what i've heard has a pretty good reputation.

The system you linked is good for a pre-made build, I would have hoped for a better quality PSU but it's Okay. No glaring issues from what I can tell, not a fan of Seagate HDD's but that's all I can put my finger on.

What are your needs, like resolution (1080p)?

    Which games?

I haven't checked prices yet but you can usually built it yourself for less, is that an option for you?

Quick look says that looks like a good deal. It's actually cheaper than buying the individual parts separately, so I would jump all over that before they sell out.

Take online reviews with a grain of salt, some are honest, some are pissed off customers, some don't know what the hell they are talking and some end up breaking it and blame the company for their own stupidity.

This is one of those few times where the prebuilt is actually cheaper, so I would go with it :P

Hey, thanks for the positive reviews.

It does look like a good system indeed. I would like it for higher end gaming, I've not built my own PC before, and while I would possibly do it, I wouldn't take the slight risk when spending around 1000.

My only concerns would be the water cooling, on the CPU I've heard some horror stories, And while im sure they're blown out of proportion, is it something to be wary of?

Additionally, I could shave about 80 pounds off by asking for no OS to be required, (I get winOS for free as a student) however is it needed in order for them Overclock the processor? Would drivers also be a potential issue when installing the OS off my own back. (in other words, is it just easier to have windows pre-installed)

    Thanks again

You might not be able to get the sale price if you ask them to change anything, you would want to get ahold of them to see if it will affect the price or not. It will likely be easier to have them install it and make sure everything runs smooth after they overclock it so if anything does go wrong, they can't blame it on you having installed the OS

Horror stories are just that, stories. Bad things happen of course, but the majority of the time they are caused by neglect or stupidity or a combination of both.

I used to swear by aria, But I had to return a faulty 8800 GTX ultra (when it was new out so a £400+ Video card) 3 times before they would replace it. unless their returns department has been completely re-vamped I would not recomend them to anyone.

Have a Chat with the folks at Scan instead
    http://www.scan.co.uk/

I took a Faulty Mobo to them to be checked and replaced. Whilst I was waiting they made me coffee, and let me "play" on a triple screen F1 Racing setup complete with Ruble seat, Steering wheel, and peddles. Came back confirmed the board was dead, and they gave me a replacement within an hour. Can not beat service like that.

when it's that cheap, just buy it. you probably won't find a better deal, unless you saw it like 5 days ago. it was £996 for that exact same system. :P

the only downside with this machine is that you don't get to pick parts you like the look of. it's a pretty boring case and the things inside such as RAM and the GPU will probably be bog standard, bottom of the line stuff.

but yeah, they are a legit company so I would hop on that deal if I needed a new computer. it comes prebuilt, overclocked, drivers installed, cherry picked parts (so they say) and you get a nice warranty which is helpful if you have no clue about computers.

Competition is only good, and I would certainly look around at a different company, providing that I could get a similar build, at a similar price. I understand if it's a good deal, that wouldnt be possible, but was your experience that bad, that it would be that much of a deal breaker for a decent priced system?

If anyone has any good builds that they know of (prebuilt) I would very much appreciate it, thanks

I don't know the specific rules/laws in the UK but I know in Denmark it's common policy to only get a replacement on the 3rd try unless something is obviously broken beyond repair or DOA. I'd say that's quite reasonable actually.

    @OP

It would affect the sales price and also they really guarantee the overclock if there is no OS installed. Seeing the prices if you built it yourself this is definitely a good deal.

If you buy an item brand new from a store, you expect it to work as advertised, and if it is quite obviously faulty as this was by displaying random character on boot up, Having textures in 3D environments all garbled and pull to one point on the screen then it should be replaced first time no questions asked. This didn't happen. it was only after receiving the card back for the second time as being found not to have a fault that I took it through to the store it was bought from and demand that it was tested and that I wanted a full refund that I got the car replaced.

    as for the OP.
Indeed competition is always good, Have a word with the people at scan explain what it is your after, your budget and what you have seen at Aria. You never know they might come up with a better deal for you.

Read my post again. If it's DOA you get a refund or a replacement (within the time frame they advertise). If the card is faulty AFTER this period they have to send it back for repairs and you may or may not believe their testing found no issue. Trust me this happens a lot, it's NOT always that problems show up the same way for the repair team/place as it does for the customer. So it makes absolute sense, they can't just replace stuff when they can't find the same issue or they found it and believed they repaired it.

I'm not claiming you got a perfect treatment but objectively it sounds fair what they did.

I too have heard great things about Aria! From their customer service, to build quality, to cost, it is all great! TimetoLiveCustoms/TinyTomLogan has done a couple reviews of their builds on his YouTube channel, and I must say I've been impressed.

Make it yourself and save money. Every time they do not list the name brand of a component they are using the cheapest they can get.

There returns department is pretty mediocre especially if you buy something from there super specials (usually stock thats being fazed out or replaced with something else). They are good value for money though and delivery charges are on a par with most places.

Actually, Aria list everything they put into their pre-builts. Yeah, they cheap out on some parts (such as the RAM in the OP's build).

How much do you have to work with for the monitor?

I've been going mad trying to find a monitor hah,

I only really have about 200 pounds of my budget left, I can't really decide between 24 or 27 I know I would only be able to get a 1080 either way,

I'm inclined to getting a 27, as I'm used to console gaming on a big screen however I do need to work on there as well coding and word documenting so perhaps the 27, would be too big for that?!

Unfortunately I can't pop into a local store as most stores have about 4 monitors on display none plugged in?

    What do you recommend pal?

I don't recommend 27" @1080p, it's simply too few pixels to cover the 27" im my opinion. 23" and 24" is the sweet spot, 23" being cheaper. Depending on your budget and needs connection wise:

    Asus VN248H 23.8" £165 (2 x HDMI, VGA, comes with HDMI cable)

Asus PB238Q 23.0" £188 (DP, HDMI, DVI, VGA, height adjustment and swivel)
    Asus PA238Q 23.0" £205

Dell U2412M 60Hz 24.0" £205 (DP, DVI, VGA, height adjustment, no HDMI)
Dell U2312HM 23.0" £155 similar connections etc. to above slightly "worse" qualityand size but obviously cheaper as well.

Check out reviews on them and see what you like (just Google search the names, check Anandtech, TFTcentral etc.)

    Ah, thats great thanks...

I quite like the look of

    Asus VN248H 23.8" £165 (2 x HDMI, VGA, comes with HDMI cable)

But then i've seen perhaps a cheaper version the

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...seller=&sr=1-1

The difference being ones an IPS(latest) and the other isnt.

For gaming what do you recommend, thanks?
