im on about 1000 calories a day atm & have lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks.
Starving yourself is the only way to lose weight.
Exercise is the only way to turn weight into muscle.
There are no bathrooms, only Zuul.
Best way to loose a lot of weight fast is to cut your legs off.
I was one of those people who thought they could just exercise their way to losing fat. Diet is key. Stay away from fads. Just watch your sugars and you'll start seeing results and the best part is after a while you're not even working at it anymore. That's the problem with most fad diets, they are super restrictive, so they are impossible to live up to for a lifetime. Eat sensible portions of low sugar foods and get out for a walk/run every day. These are things you can do for the next 40, 50, 60 years. Not 5,000 calorie 'protien' and fat diets and crossfit. Seriously, who needs a case of rhabdo just so they can be a bro...
No, science science. I know Atkins proponents aren't big fans of objective reality with regard to the long term health of their diet, because they've seen weight loss benefits and want to believe that it's perfect. Unfortunately, there's ample evidence (here's one of many, many papers you can find) that ketogenic diets result in accumulation of calcium in your kidneys. For short term weight loss, it might be worth it anyway, as obesity carries massive risks as well, but a long term ketogenic diet is only recommended for people trying to abrogate the effects of epilepsy and other conditions.

Well, you certainly can, if you're not eating a crazy amount. It seems that many people struggle with the "not eating a crazy amount" part though. Generally speaking, you'll lose weight as long as you're running a 300-400 calorie/day deficit. Creating that deficit via exercise isn't particularly hard (it's about 3-4 miles of running or 10-15 miles of cycling), but many people seem unable to sustain it without also adding food.
Eat right and exercise.
While most weight lifting studies show inconsistent results such as what rep/set schemes are better the one thing that is consistent across most the studies is that participants that train to failure typically have better results than those that do not, regardless of type of exercise, reps, or sets.
So the best way to exercise and build muscle and thus keep fat off the body is to do an exercise until failure.
Pasta is bad. Esp made from wheat. At worse it's a toxic blend of gluten, lectin, and other harmful proteins. At best is an empty calorie source that would be better replaced by nutrient rich fruits or vegetables.
You might want to take another look at your study. It does not conclude what you think it does. Ketosis is a natural state and is simply a by product of burning mainly fats for fuels, dietary or body fat. IMO it's not necessary for weight loss or good health but it isn't harmful.

Well yeah cause your starving. I don't see how you can get adequate nutrition eating so little. Upping your calories from nutritious food, not junk, and exercise more would be healthier. Also make sure to get enough protein, esp if you're doing crazy low calorie, or a lot of the "weight" you lose will be muscle and lean body mass rather than fat.
So, why is it that most marathoners, cyclists, and triathletes eat significant amounts of wheat?
Are you sure you know what "toxic" means?
Something being "natural" doesn't make it good. Ketosis is certainly a "natural" state, but it's a natural state that creates substantial risk of kidney stones (and other problems). Additionally, as mentioned, it becomes effectively impossible to replenish glycogen stores effectively, making such a diet plan a horrible idea for anyone that actually plans to be active. So, yeah, ketosis is a nice way of ripping through fat quickly without burning off muscle, but it's not a good long term plan for much of anyone.
Hence wheat isn't "bad" or "good". It's food. If you're not a bump on a log, you'll be well served by eating some food that's efficiently used for glycogenesis. The discussion of this comes from here:
That's an effectively useless sentiment. If you're an endurance athlete, you're going to want quite a few carbs. That doesn't make them "good" or "bad", it makes them useful for certain purposes.
Tighten up your diet!
For context, read title carefully.
For the carbs. Because it's cheap and easily available. People are also mostly ignorant to the health risks that grains, esp modern wheat, can pose. I don't know if you are trying to hold the above groups up as ideals of health. If you are I beg to differ. Extreme endurance athletes come with a host of issues like cardiovascular issues, inflammation, not to mention skeletal, muscle, and joint issues. Moderate amounts of exercise are critical to health but too much can actually be detrimental and extremely rough on the body.
Yes. Are you going to argue semantics or get to your point? Are you sure you know what "toxic" means?
You are ignoring the fact that the study you quoted doesn't conclude what you claimed it does. Why? Ketosis isn't harmful to the kidneys and I'm not sure you understand the biochemistry of ketosis. When in ketosis the body's cells and tissues adapt to using ketone bodies for energy and so glycogen, the main form of glucose storage, becomes unnecessary. Your body can easily make the minute amount of essential glucose from dietary protein and even fat to a lesser extent. When in ketosis there is no need to "replenish glycogen stores effectively". If you want to replenish your glycogen stores just eat some carbs. So long as you have glycogen to burn you won't be in ketosis. When glycogen is depleted your body will replenish glycogen first before storing glucose as body fat. One of the reasons why exercise increases one's carb tolerance and keeps you lean.Something being "natural" doesn't make it good. I'm not arguing that ketosis is necessary for health or weight loss. Only that it isn't harmful and is even beneficial for some people to control diseases like epilepsy and can be a tool for some, esp the obese or diabetic and insulin resistant, to lose weight.
Without trying to be funny.
The single best way to lose weight.
Is....
Eat Less and Exercise More...
Shocking I know
That's oversimplified. I can't argue with the fact that almost everyone, esp if they're overweight, needs to move more but being healthy isn't just about eating less. It's about eating the right foods. Foods that are rich in micronutrients and that nourish your body. Eat real food not diet food! Processed junk food is engineered to hit every single one of our brain's pleasure centers making us overeat. That's why it's virtually impossible to "eat less" if you're not eating right. And it's not just about eating the healthy stuff. You have to cut out the junk!
Read the End of Overeating by David Kessler. The title implies it's about fat people but it's really an expose on the food industry and tricks and techniques they use to get us to overeat their junk. The more we eat the more money they make. I totally geek out on health and fitness stuff like this!
