Ele help~ Do I go for socket bonuses.

    Hi all,

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte...k/Uph/advanced

Do i go for socket bonuses? I have been trying to stay above 40k spellpower (0 buffs).
I'm at 71% mastery, I can make that a lot higher if I ignore my int gems and such, but I will lose about 780~ or so intellect.

    What do I do?

    Thanks.

(Ignore the 2 piece resto and the overhit cap.)

The standard answer is to sim and get your stat weights... but the short answer is do not ignore int. Mastery may be better 2:1 than int is, but you are not swapping 1 int for 2 mastery. Assume you have a yellow socket with a 60 int bonus. An orange gem vs a yellow means 140 int vs 160 mastery difference. No way mastery is better in that ratio.

So that would be a big downgrade more than an upgrade... okay, thanks.

    Intellect bonus? Match the slot.
    Haste bonus? Match the slot.
    Mastery bonus? Match the slot.
Critical bonus? Don't match the slot.
Spirit/Hit bonus? Don't match the slot.

    Red: Intellect/Mastery
    Yellow: Mastery
Green: Spirit/Mastery (if you need the socket bonus), else use Mastery.

It's not this cut and dry. It depends on how much the bonus is, what color gem is required to match it, and your own stat weights. For example, if you're already going full haste or mastery, a 60 int bonus on a blue socket, unless you need the hit, is not worth it, because you're already gemming under the assumption that 2x haste or mastery is worth more than int - so 160 haste or mastery is worth more than 60 int, and you should just stick a yellow gem in it.
