Dutch entrepreneur Bas Lansdorp’s Mars One, an organization planning to establish a colony on the red planet by 2023, is more popular than Obamacare. Lansdrop has collected more signatures for his improbable project than all the number of Americans who have enrolled in Obama’s mandatory health insurance fiasco.

Obamacare enrollment will spike in the coming months. Especially if people are like me, who may not like the law in it's current form but will see that the benefit of health insurance exceeds the cost of not having it via fine. Marginal thinking and self preseversation and all.

You only get a fine if you are making as a single person over 55k a year.. or 65k(?) as a couple.. and if you make that much and do not have health insurance SHAME ON YOU! There is SO much misinformation being spread about "Obamacare" that people like my parents were actually afraid to sign up... I had to sit and explain why they should sign up and see if it was cheaper and better than the weird insurance my step dad's work offers. I have actually used the site and it worked for me but it still has a lot of issues and some people cannot access it.. like my husband even though I can in the same room. If you are having an issue with the site you can get a number to call pretty fast via their live chat(5 min max) for a local person to call in your area that can help you out either with an application or the site itself.

Part of the issue is that every person making less than 55k SHOULD check it out as it might be cheaper and better insurance than what you have currently and if you dont have any insurance doubly you should check it out. THAT is self preservation =P

Most people wouldn't know how, where, or why to sign up for health insurance. Our system of insurance is atrocious and our education regarding money in the United States is atrocious. As is our culture regarding that education. There's always money for an iphone, but no one can find that $100 bucks to goto the doctor and get checked for hypertension before it happens?

The fact that people think "Obamacare" is good or bad is reflective of this. It is neither. It is a response to a deeply flawed system of healthcare payment. If our system wasn't so horrific, so one-sided, Obamacare would not need to exist.

But its not sexy to critique that system - after all, it is complex and widely misunderstood. It's more fun to critique Obama, he's an easy target. Stupid president, you're spending my money, hurrrrrrr. All the while, record premiums, record lows on overhead, and record profits are being reported by insurers you've never heard of because they don't advertise on TV. Ever heard of QBE? Utica National? Who owns Humana, the largest private health insurer in the US? Don't google this info, you'll get it wrong. And that's by design. But let me say this: Humana stock will be a safe investment for a long, long time. Assuming you can get it from the surprising number of international holders who actually have the controlling stake in one of the largest US federal contractors.

not unless you make over 55k as an individual. Obviously double check my info but I am like 95% sure that this is the correct information. On a personal note.. I was only 25ish when I became disabled, you DO NOT want to go through something like that without health insurance.. I have dealt with good times and bad throughout my illness and depending on where you live(examples Texas BAD, Cali good) you may not want to try and get help without your own insurance. Texas actually sent me out of a hospital when I couldn't walk, nor drive and was having convulsion like muscle spasms.. apparently I wasnt sick enough for help. Cali its pretty easy to get state healthcare but if you were to get sick before getting the coverage that is where the issues are. Luckily I had very good insurance when I was first diagnosed and started treatment.. I dunno what my life would have been like if I didnt.

The fine is only around $100 the first year vs a $300+ monthly premium plus a $6000+ out of pocket limit. Obamacare will cost you over $10,000 a year not including the deductibles. I read a story about a man who's premium is nearly $600 a month. Middle aged type 1 making 45k a year.

Yeah the affordable care act is real affordable. These numbers are just for individuals!
